As a child of the 80's and being a teen in the 90's I'm a big fan of Tarantino, but for some reason I'd never seen 'True Romance' up until last night...
loved it, VERY 90's, and Patricia Arquette is simply gorgeous in it!
I have no idea why I've never watched it before?

It's a great film.
Baywatch.
Terrible cheezy film with crap acting, a half arsed plot and lazy characterisation.
But I was on a plane and 6 drinks in so found it to be quite entertaining - even though it was demonstrably crap in every possible way.
CHIPS
Again rubbish - but more entertaining that it had any real right to be.

Hell or high water - I made a mistake of reading reviews which suggested it was similar in spirit to No country for old men. Well, it was nothing like it. Not a bad film on its own - good characters, soundtrack, plot and camera work. But nowhere near the 'No country'. 6.5/10 Oh, and Ben Foster is brilliant.
Prisoners (2013) - difficult to watch, especially for a dad, and a bit too predictable. Paul Dano was underused, which is a shame considering his talent. Again, 6.5/10

The New IT film.
I probably just don't get modern horror films, it felt like some sort of rom com horror with gratuitous violence and set jump scares as well as some scenes i guess for Jimmy Saville. Got bored towards end just wanted it to finish. Nothing really like the original as a physiological thriller/horror.
5/10 Wait until it is out on 'video'

Sully
I was never really bothered about it when it first came out and I tend to prefer Hanks in comedy roles. Chucked it on to fill some time and it was a lot better than I expected. I don't know how much is exaggerated for the sake of Hollywood but I liked the character and the way the story was told.

American Assassin
I suspect that this was written by a large committee who started with a whiteboard session where every 'action movie' cliche was written down, then ticked off as the story was written. Then it was re-written to remove any semblance of sense from the plot. Then some more explosions were added and a few more fight scenes thrown in just for good measure. Then, because it was still st, a 'disaster movie' style ending was tacked on and everyone went to the pub.
Avoid.

Just rented The Villainess from Amazon Prime, a new Korean action movie that seemed to blend both O-Ren Ishii's back story from Kill Bill and the Bridget Fonda 1993 movie, Point of No Return.
If you like stuff like that, and The Raid movies, it's worth giving this a go, the action scenes and camera work are very good, and I fully expect a sanitised Hollywood version soon.

My best friend is staying with me this weekend so we watched a few films together.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
She'd seen it once before and I hadn't ever seen it. Started out very "WTF?" but became increasingly more interesting. I enjoyed it.
Dark City
I repaid the favour by putting this on as I had seen it once before and she had never seen it, and I figured it had a similar WTF vibe. She enjoyed it.
