what we do in the shadows

Fun, vampire, mockumentary. Apparently some from the same camp as Flight of the Conchords.
Enjoyed it.

Somewhere Else Tomorrow.

A small budget movie about some Germans traversing the globe on BMW bikes. Very interesting, far, far away from the over-supported unrealistic commercialism of 'Long way round'

If you are into overland trips, you'll enjoy this. 8/10
I'll have to look out for that. Try Mondo Enduro if you've not seen it for a similarly low budget British trip. Austin Vince from that lot, and his wife Lois Pryce, run an adventure travel film festival which I really need to get ton one of these days

Wasn't there a film or a series about two guys on Suzuki DR 350s travelling across the world?

Transformers the latest one.

As st as the others. Total mess of a film. The end.

0/10
So if you didn't like the others, why did you watch this one?

The contents of the film are very obvious. Watched it with my 12 year old son and liked it, but then I liked the others as well. After all it's brain out robots fighting each other escapism entertainment.

I loved the first three but had to turn off after 15 minutes of number 4 it was so dire.

Secret Life of Pets

Bit of a waste of time I thought, all the slightly funny bits were in the trailer. Lack of plot, and trying to encompass too much into it.

4/10.

American Assassin
I suspect that this was written by a large committee who started with a whiteboard session where every 'action movie' cliche was written down, then ticked off as the story was written. Then it was re-written to remove any semblance of sense from the plot. Then some more explosions were added and a few more fight scenes thrown in just for good measure. Then, because it was still st, a 'disaster movie' style ending was tacked on and everyone went to the pub.
Avoid.

Was really liking this, as the main lead character wasn't one of the usual recognisable faces for me.
Then at the end it went mental!
It just lacked a few God bless America moments to push it over the edge.
Overall regardless of the stupid ending i enjoyed it, so 8/10
was going to watch this tonight, have a few spare hours and an Unlimited card so minimal cost - would be happy to veg out to 6 or 7/10 but not if smn is right. I find Keaton very watchable these days too.

seems a marmite movie - IMDB 68% rotten toms 35%

this weekend

Wind River

Excellent but bleak, fantastic cinematography of the settings, Renner is superb - same writer/director as Hell or High Water which was also excellent, thoroughly recommended 9/10

Made in America

had low expectations but an enjoyable romp, Cruise plays Cruise, eminently watchable but a bit lame after watching Narcos 7/10

He was initially pretty good at playing Cruise, but then he had a crisis of confidence...

You only had to, "show him the money ", a quick bit of botox, a little facelift and a bit of hair dye and he was back in the game! All in the name of science, (Christian science wink ).

I agree some films I watched at the cinema then watched again later have improved. I just found the film really dragged on.
Agree it was about half hour too long at 2.15. I lose interest with most long films..

There was an article run in Bike magazine a good few years ago about two guys travelling down through Africa on DR 350's. I wonder if they made a a movie?

I find my stuff on a dubious download site, so I shall browse for the Mondo movie.

I also heard that Ted Simon, he of Jupiters Travels is making another movie. He only published the Africa section in the last movie he made.

I have tried to watch the last couple, but everything moves around so bloody fast I can't follow what is happening. Sitting at the front in the movie theatre probably doesn't help.....

The latest is sitting on my PC waiting to be watched.

ETA: I watched if last night. Looks like a great time was had by all, but I did predict some of the guys would drop out soon into the trip. Well worth a watch if you are into overland trips.

I watched the first Transformers movie. I tried the second one too but it seemed to just be the first one repeated again? So I didn't bother with any more after that.

Thinking about it, wasn't it on the Eurosport channel as a series?
