Kingsman: The Golden Circle - I loved the original (a solid 8 or 9/10) but this was just awful. It is to Kingsman what Kickass 2 is to Kickass. I don't know why Matthew Vaughn thinks that in order to make a sequel you have to go full cheesy, CGI-fest OTT and ruin the original film. I should have known when the opening action scene was a 80mph chase through London streets where 3x Jags couldn't keep up with a black taxi that goes from being a cab to a hot rod and then to a submarine. And then the robot guard dogs showed up and that was it, the film was dead to me.

It wasn't all bad; there are some really good jokes in there (Eggys impression of Merlin right at the start for instance) but they are few and far between. All other characters (outside the main 3) get maybe 4-5 minutes of screen time total and it just feels so ham-fisted. Don't get me started on the Glastonbury or Elton John scenes.

2/10 only because it did make me laugh a few times and Taron E, Colin F and Mark S are pretty solid in it.

Blue is the Warmest Colour (La Vie d'Adèle – Chapitres 1 & 2)

I watched this as a recommendation. Amazing film and Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux put in amazing performances. Not my usual choice of viewing but I was totally captivated by the film.

10/10

The accountant

I really quite enjoyed it as the plot went didn't really go as expected. I tend to try and have a rough idea of how I think a films story is going to play out after 10 minutes. Any movie that surprises me gets plus points.

6/10
Watched it last night too... not my usual kind of film I must add but I think there was a bit of everything in there!

Was wondering where it would lead to - didn't see it coming either.

I'd say 7/10 for The Accountant

Watched Sully last weekend - I know that has been covered a while ago. But I loved it - usual Hanks top quality acting.

9/10 for Sully

A bit off topic for the thread, but for those who saw Get Out, spot the similarities in this episode of We Bare Bears hehehttp://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5jharj

The IMDb page for the episode references Get about too.

https://io9.gizmodo.com/this-episode-of-we-bare-be...

Have to say I'd never heard of We Bare Bears before, so I don't know if film references in stories is stuff they do a lot of.

John Wick 2 . Family guy chicken fight for 2 hrs. And so many hitmen milling about that you think it must be a new Uber business venture.
Film for idiots that dont want to experience any stress, danger or jeopardy but want a sort of fun fair ride. Preferably that
tea cup and saucer one for 3 year olds.

Kill your friends

Was on film 4 last night, a take on the music A&R scene in the early 90's.

Quite a dark film in places but some very funny moments, even James Corden was bearable and put in a decent performance.

Well worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

Manchester By The Sea. It's now free an Amazon Prime. A really dark subject handled with lots of black humour and told via flashbacks where the old fun loving main character and the new miserable one clash together. I didn't expect to laugh so much and I really didn't expect to enjoy a performance by Casey Affleck. Well worth watching. 8/10.

American Made. Pretty much a remake of Lord of War only not as good.

Caught a few on my holiday flight:

Why Him - not too bad & quite funny

Kung Fu Yoga - poor Jackie Chan film, some reasonable momenys

Snatched - avoid. A few very funny bits and a few more chuckleworthy bits do not excuse this pile of excrement

The 24 Hour War - excellent doc on the GT40/Ferrari tear up @ Le Mans also some Ford & Ferrari history thrown in

Weiner

Documentary about an American politician living up to his name. Unbelievable that he even let cameras in to be honest Makes your skin crawl, and sadly not surprising that he's still in the news today.

8/10.

Good doc that. Unbelievable hubris verging on mental illness on full display. Easy 8/10.

Alien Covenant. Rather enjoyed it. A return to the feel of the original film, but tempered with the stupidity of Prometheus. Better than the previous two Alien films IMO.

lol - Virgin actually, I'd already seen most of the stuff I would've watched before. I was so disappointed in Prometheus I decided to watch Snatched instead of Covenant... I really messed up there, no way covenant could've been worse!

I've done 8 US West Coast trips on Virgin this year and I have seen everything they show. I'm moving to BA for a bit in the hope of getting to see something different.
I purposely avoid watching films on the ground these days so I have something to watch whilst in the air.
