Geostorm (no not one of the stbox cars in the US in the 90's). A far-fetched disaster movie which was, to be fair, total bks and st with it. Non-the-less I did enjoy it.

John Wick 2. I lasted maybe 30 minutes, and switched off. Stupid, just totally stupid.

BBC. The Long Shadow.

Series of 3 'movies' or documentaries about the long term effects and social implications of the Great War. Very interesting perspectives.

One of my favourite films and I was just thinking about it today because I need to watch it again. Was it on TV? I can probably catch up if it was.
Smokey and the Bandit (also the name of my 2 cats) was on today but I didn't get the chance to watch it. Gumball is better though.
Not on TV, no. I have had the house decorated, so I had cleared the lounge. In returning the few DVDs I still own to their correct location, I noticed this one. Wife was out so perfect synchronicity of opportunities arose.

Just endured two hours of Atomic Blonde, do people really pay in to the cinema to watch predictable sh*t like this? The sound track was the only redeeming feature 3 out of 10.

Finally got around to watching The Big Short. After a very awkward opening 10 minutes it becomes utterly captivating. Great performances and very clever methods of explaining horribly complex/boring financial stuff necessary to following the plot.

Loved it, can’t believe it had taken this long for me to get around to seeing it.
It's a really great watch about a time that's scarred the world and most people still know only the vaguest things about.

Song to Song. Just what? 5 minutes in and we had no idea what was going on, 20 minutes and we still had no idea so switched it off and put on...

Camera Store.

Very very good, and very funny in places.

Also watched Maudie this week, also unexpectedly very good.

HHhH 6/10

A 'weinstein' production. The plot was OK but it could have built into a much better film IMHO

Death of Stalin

big fan of the Thick of it so thought I would enjoy it, its clever and very funny in places but drags a little as there is a situation rather than any plot

would have made a good 60 minute one off TV special, not sure about the film

but recommended if you like Armando Iannucci's stuff

7/10

Land of Mine.

Forign with subtitles. One of the best films I've seen this year by far. It's on sky now, go see something that will really make you stop and think.

The Gumball Rally again... probably the 30th time.

If you haven't seen it, watch it or you shouldn't be on Pistonheads.

A film of its time with a lot of actors now dead. Some of the trivia is great like the actors doing all their own driving (except for the Camaro on 2 wheels), often driving significantly over 120mph, and that bit in the LA river looked great fun.

The ragtime soundtrack was only beaten by the road of the Cobra V8 and howl of the Daytona V12.

It's not possible these days. Police departments talk to one another across borders and they would probably shoot you anyway. And there's simply too much traffic.

This is the pinnacle of movie making for me.

Eleventh Three / 4.
Love this film. So much better than the stty Cannonball films!

Bit in BOLD Not impossible, just more difficult. Google "Alex Roy" (E39 M5) or "Ed Bolian" (CL55 - It was a trade in where he worked) or even "Rawlings/Collins" (550M)

Incredible film, one of the best you'll ever watch IMO, as much for the fact that its based on real events.

FWIW these 'comedy' scores were mildly amusing the first couple of times, but now, not so much...

Gold - Matthew McConnahoohee as a fat, balding and drunk gold prospector who hit the big time. Apparently based on a true story. 7/10

Anti matter. Nice little Brit indie sci-fi. Good concept, and they did an excellent job with the limited budget. Doesn't spoon feed the audience. There's a bit too much padding where they could have thrown in a few more red herrings, and I would have tweaked the ending, but overall a great soggy Sunday afternoon watch.

I read Alex Roy's book. I think the point I took away is that it is prohibitively difficult to do it as a single person, much less as a group like the Gumballers did. Today, you'd have to do it stealthily whereas back then a Daytona and Cobra would have been fine.

I liked The Cannonball Run too but for a different reason. It's just a pity they turned to sped-up film for the Lamborghini intro. Most of those actors are dead too.

Tried Matchstick Men? One of his better films and quite enjoyable.

I would actually give it an 8/10

After driving back from Devon tonight I needed a little brain out TV time so watched Payback. A typical Mel Gibson film but hit the spot over a nice dinner all the same.

6.5/10
