Now Disney wholly owns Pixar, I can foresee many sequels that are shadows of their former films, it is the Disney way.

I recall watching or maybe reading a critique of cars 2 which showed it didesn't really add up to the universe logic of Cars, but I can't recall where/what it was now. biggrin

Death of Stalin - dark comedy - mentioned previously on this thread, I'd agree - bloody funny at times, and a horrific subject handled in appropriately not-giving-a-st Armando Iannucci stylee. Some great acting talent in this, and they all do well, though Isaacs' Zhukov is by far the best.

Forign with subtitles. One of the best films I've seen this year by far. It's on sky now, go see something that will really make you stop and think.
Just watched that, very good movie.

There are so many horrible and nasty things about war that we never really think about, and clearing up 2 million mines your government left in somebody elses country is one of them.

True Romance

First time I've watched this. Been aware for a long time, but the title has never appealed and only until recently have I become much of a film viewer.

Generally good; I can see why it's well liked and generally gets positive reviews. For the most part, the acting is spot on and scenes in general well executed, the story is mostly to my liking but now and then it gets a little too 'Tarantino', which is why it faulters with me.

Annabelle: CREATION.
IMO the first installment of this franchise SUCKED something awful and 1 hour into this one i began to form the same opinion until about 10 minutes into the beginning of the 2nd hour/2nd half of the film when all the craziness begins to show itself. I was actually scared, freaked out by it all!! Yes ME, a grown man experiencing an elevated heart beat and finding myself locking the door to my deck and lifting my feet from off the floor LOL
I recommend this film, it is creepy AS HELL. Some truly gruesome scenes. And you almost always count on little girls possessed by pure evil to scare the crap out of you!
Plus, the ending was a very nicely done connection to the first movie, very nicely done indeed. Just remember that this film, Annabelle Creation is a prequel. And there is a nice little easter egg in the film which I doubt that many people will pick up on. I do not want to give it away but I will ask; being that this film and the conjuring are supposedly based off true stories the 'real' Annabelle doll sits in a museum and or private collection I fail to recall; nevertheless, have any of you actually ever saw pictures of the 'real' Annabelle doll?

TWO BRAND NEW CHILDS PLAY FILMS...

WHO ELSE HAS been a fan of the Chucky, Childs Play franchise ever since Chucky made his slashing debut in tbe late 80's? effectively planting a seed of fear in me to be frightened of just about any realistic dolls even to this day. For me as a child it was the 1990 Tony Todd remake of Night of the Living Dead and Child's Play the first and second movie that put all the fear in me as a child.

As you all probably know there have been a string of Childs Play movies since the first one was so popular. Many of them have never made it to the big screen but that didnt stop studios from filming a new Chucky movie every few years. Do you lot remember the monstrosity that was THE BRIDE OF CHUCKY where Chucky gets a doll wife played/voiced by Jennifer Tilly. Followed shortly thereafter by THE SEED OF CHUCKY again starring the Chuckmeister as well as the doll version of J. Tilly AS WELL AS j. tilly again as herself. And they introduced a transgenered ginger offspring, the son/daughter of Chucky and Jennifer in doll forn. That doll was one creepy nasty little thing, scarier than Chucky IMO. I am unsure even to this day if those films were meant to be true horror films or comedies. Afterall, Chucky and his j. tilly doll have doll sex together.

Anyway, to my point... I was upset because I really desired a true to original, back to true horrific form Child's Play movie. And I got two completely out of nowhere!!

The Curse of Chucky. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curse_o

The acting is pretty bad and you can tell it was totally on a shoe string budget but it tried. It was a let down in my eyes and I was pretty pissed ofd because I just cant see how with such rock solid source material and legendary history to go off of they manage to make a crap film. Well, little did I know that the movie was simply a prelude to the real film that JUST CAME OUT THIS YEAR entitled THE CULT OF CHUCKY, which I found skimming about Netflix.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cult_

If you are a Chucky fan this is a must see and as close to the original horror renewed as we are probably ever going to get. Andy Barclay is in it and I love what they made him to be and yhe wonderful surprise he keeps locked away in his cabinet. Brilliant!! Also, they changed Chuckys face and facial movements EVER so slightly, making him way creepier than ever before. its like a real kid with doll skin, its pure evil and sent shivers up and down my spine. The setting and acting and plot isnt great BUT its good enough to ensure you arent thinking about how much the production value sucks ass resulting in you paying attention to the movie and investing in the plot. There is a wonderful reunion of characters paying a nicely done homage to the previous films and the main human character in the film prior is still the main character in this one. I will say one big negative however, and that is that towards the end it seems to me that the film probably was running over budget and or out of time and what could have been a home run if not for sacrificing value, acting and suspense of disbelief towards the last quarter of the movie. A damn shame because well, have a watch yourself of the first one THE CURSE OF CHUCKY and the THE CULT OF CHUCKY, both on Netflix, and see for your selves.

Let me know what you think, I am anxious to hear your opinions!!

Here is a list of all the Childs Play films since the beginning.

It's a classic. I watched it a few weeks ago (I can't remember if I posted here or not) but it's stood the test of time well. Absolute classic.

I don't think I will ever get over Macho Grande though.

Wonder Woman. There's loads of little problems with it that i could overlook easily enough, but the two glaring issues are the CGI and the ending.

The CGI really is surprisingly bad for a modern AAA film. Mario on the NES had a more realistic jumping action. When the CGI is that bad and that overused it turns what i'm guessing was supposed to be an action film into a comedy.

Talking of comedy, the final boss fight; what there they thinking? Who looks at that and thinks 'yep, nailed it'? It's stunningly, hilariously awful.

It's a shame too because if they just toned it all down it could have been so much better in my opinion. But as it stands i'd say 3/10

On another note, thanks to those who suggested i keep going with The Wire. Having enjoyed the first series, i got through the second in under a week and i'd agree it was better than the first.

Well done for sticking with it. It gets better all the way up to the final series which kind of jumps the shark a bit. The 2nd season is a bit marmite with people, but it's my favourite. Frank Sobotka is a great character but I think people had difficulty swallowing Ziggy.

South Bound , a odd & somewhat disturbing horror . 5 entangled stories , each by a different director . Rather good I thought .

"Remember we're werewolves not swearwolves"

Great film smile Also worth checking out "Hunt For The Wilderpeople" if you enjoy this, it's from the same director and has similar humour.
