Discussion
24 hours to live - a more serious Crank (we loved both Cranks), too derivative but Hawke was ok 5/10
Paddington 2 - what's not to like? 8/10
Valerian and... Wanted to like this, but ended up a bit meh 5/10
Brigsby Bear - Total surprise, excellent 9/10
The Hitmans Bodyguard - Take brain out and enjoy 7/10
Camera Store - Excellent 9/10
The heyday of the insensitive.... Did I miss the point of this?, switched off after ten minutes 0/10
Crash Pad - very funny in places but a bit patchy 7/10

Payback. The 1999 Mel Gibson revenge film that I'd missed, currently free on Prime. Sadly our hero's courses of action are so implausible that not only does Mel get a voice-over, but the other characters point out the stupidity of it all a couple of times. Despite this, the cast do manage to give it some charm. 7/10.

I think the story works fine. It's the same story as Point Blank (Lee Marvin) and was also done again more recently as Parker. All adaptations of The Hunter. The point of it is about revenge, the various characters can't understand why he's prepared to go so far over a relatively small amount of money, the reality is the money isn't what he's actually after and it's all about the principle.
The hunt for the widerpeople.
Fancied this off the back of What we do in the shadows. I'll give it a seven out of ten. It's an odd couple film at heart. Sam Neil is a one dimensional curmudgeon & the kid who plays opposite is a bit irritating but it's a movie with a heart & the wildly overreaching social services woman is a good turn. Rhys Darby as an unhinged bush man is funny too.

Gold , Mathew McConaughey from 2016 . Watched the first hour last week but gave up due to the buffering (ahem) then finished it last night . Good movie with twists , MMC at his greasy best and certainly worth a brain out 6/10 .
Ditto, watched this last night too after putting it off for a few years! Once again, great acting by MMC but probably let down by a weak script, or perhaps some would say the film was too long for such a weak story (2 hours).6/10.
Paddington 2:
A really great family film.
It's incredibly well balanced as when things start to go wrong you get a joke or a moment of slapstick so it's not too much for the little one.
Good story, great cast: the two Hugh's and Brendon Gleeson where highlights.
I really enjoyed the first one and this is better still.
9/10

6/10.
I agree. Got bored with it on a flight, turned if off after a while.6/10.
No Country For Old Men, great, great film.
Watched last year for the third time in the company of my fairly sheltered cousin.
She watched it avidly, eyes riveted to the screen with just the occasional, "oh my God" emitting from her at regular intervals.
I believe that she was in need of, "The Sound Of Music" afterwards to bring her down.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people miss out on good films but are happy to intake a huge amount of TV crap!
