midnight run - always enjoyable

Hot tub time machine - for some reason this was MUCH funnier than the first viewing. I especially liked the nod to HST by Cusack. The entire flick does have an 80's style script, but I think it works very nicely for a modern take on the genre.

Nice to see some titties in this day and age also.

Which reminds me....

Trading Places. smile
I agree about trading places, I was surprised with the amount of titties on show. Jamie lee Curtis had a brilliant set!!

Whoa what a film.
I wanted to like it, but it's just boring in my opinion.

Justice League - not as bad as I'd expected, but leagues behind MCU stuff, as my son put it. Totally forgettable, though 6/10

Justice league.

Well I enjoyed it, but I enjoyed bvs (well the extended version)

There are moments where it is excellent. Unfortunately there are moments where it isn't.

Ultimately it looks and feels like two different films, by totally different directors cobbled together. Because that's what it is.

what is good is that the whole team all get something to do and a certain league member is far more integral to the plot than I thought they would be. (No that isn't who you think either)
Also the return of a couple of musical themes is most welcome. I defy anyone of a certain age not to get goosebumps when a few bars of a certain John Williams theme are dropped into the score.

The bad: some dodgy CGI in places. The whole mother box thing is too like the infinity stones. DC may have come up with the idea first, but marvel were the first to get it "out there".
Worst of all however was a completely forgettable villain. Even more so than the doomsday cave troll from bvs.

Ultimately it will be compared to the excellent first Avengers movie and it just isn't close to that standard. That's because marvel had a plan and did the work building the MCU first. DC have tried to do it backwards, using exposition or cctv clips for origin stories. In a way I think most of us are sick of origin movies now, but it still feels like a cop out.

Not the disaster critics would have you believe, think more "age of ultron" and less "avengers assemble" and you'll know what to expect.

7.5/10

Agree. Great fun and all very well done.

Loved the ending.

Also laughed at him getting another pair of sunglasses out when his were knocked off.

Oh. And are we allowed to mention Kevin Spacey. Brilliant as Mr Bad.

Extremely 'slick' film. I expected more driving, but the under story was sweet. Reminded me of True Romance a bit.

Some hateful characters, very good acting from the bad guys. Spacey, yes weird watching him in this for me after this last few weeks. But yes creepy and believable. I was worried for the young character when he was left alone in the lift with Spacey.... :haha:

I'd tip the cinematography and sound track for an oscar nomination too.

The Bourne Legacy

This is the one with Jeremy Renner rather than Maaaaat Daaaaamon.

My gods what a pile of crap that was; two hours of my life wasted. Some might call it slow-moving, but I found it utterly soporific, and by the time the 'climax' of action arrived at the end in the Philippines I was so completely uninvested that I was fast forwarding.

I would not recommend it.
As a big fan of the Bourne films we always joke that Jeremy Renner came closer to killing Bourne than the CIA did

Leaving Las Vegas.

Coincidently we had been visiting an alcoholic friend of ours this afternoon. He, (our friend) is a serial drinker. He buys a bottle of gin, drinks the whole lot from the bottle, tries to carry on but invariably passes out.

By comparison, Nicolas Cage was having a hell of a time killing him self with alcohol!

A great film, really well acted by Cage, (who received an Oscar for best actor) but certainly not a film to come away from with a smile on your face.

Superb film and a great performance by the lovely Elisabeth Shue too.

I watched Horrible Bosses last night.

Jenifer Aniston looks great in that.

With the revelations about Spacey recently, his portrayal of one of the bosses is seriously sinister.

Thanks, Ace.

FB friends are slating it, so I won't be watching it, more a telly film, but a sad story.

Agreed. Great movie and good soundtrack by Sting (and others).

Aliens just started on Film4HD for anyone interested.

Tonight I popped out to see Ingrid Goes West. It's a dark comedy that gives quite a poignant look at our obsession with the likes of Instagram and social media from the viewpoint of a troubled young woman. Scarily accurate in places and an amusing alternative movie to the usual blockbusters.
