Narcos - Netflix Original
Discussion
Another one late to the Narcos party here. What a fantastic series. The way they intertwined real footage with the storyline was really well done. The storyline of the young lad, star struck that Escobar had asked him to help (by taking the 'tape recorder' on the plane) combined with footage of the aftermath of the plane wreck and grieving relatives was quite chilling. Quite astounding that he in effect held a whole country hostage. I spent half the time checking the characters and events depicted with who they were in reality. Roll on series 3.

You were there?!
Yeah, it was interesting seeing the guys in real life (Pena is quite a character) and hearing them break down the fact and fiction of the Narcos TV show (Quote: "a third is fact, a third is roughly based on what we did, and a third is hollywood bullst"). I was sad to hear that General Carillo is a fictional character (as i could have watched a whole series of him kicking ass) but was loosely based on Martinez (who, of course, features in series 2 anyway).Cocaine Cowboys - Reloaded is a great way to spent 2.5 hours.

It's basically the inside track on how the Americans (and Colombians) ran things when the cocaine hit their shores.
Interestingly they mention that Pablo Escobar was NOT the one who really ran the Medellin Cartel either.
Enjoy.

"Pablo Escobar: Patron Del Mal" is worth watching too. It is on Netflix, 74 episodes long and good viewing. Basically the same as Narcos but stretched out and lots of sub plots too.
Yeah I liked that series. Seems v authentic with the Spanish and 80s look. Bit low budget special effects in places though. colin_p said:
Er indeed.
Rumour has there will be a 3rd although not about Pablo Escobar
Netflix have already confirmed the 3rd and 4th season.Rumour has there will be a 3rd although not about Pablo Escobar
I'll definitely watch it, but without Wagner Moura I think they'll have a real task on their hands to live up to the first two series. His performance was brilliant and the character of Escobar is what really made the program, I thought.
