Mutant X a Marvel Superhero series from the early noughties. It runs X-Men a bit close which when you think about it is a bit odd but it is a bit different.
I got about half way through episode one yesterday, but have up as it just felt as though it had aged really badly. I might have another look if it's worth it?ajprice said:
Terminal
Margot Robbie/Simon Pegg movie I watched yesterday. It looks great, in a stylised, Sin City in colour sort of way. Critic reviews are bad, IMDB review posts are better, maybe it's a marmite love/hate film, but I liked it.
I really enjoyed it, other acting highlights are Mike Myers (yes, the one out of Waynes World) and Dexter Fletcher (Lock Stock and many others).Margot Robbie/Simon Pegg movie I watched yesterday. I do tend to gravitate to the stylised cel/noir kind of movie though - standouts in the genre for me are - as you say, Sin City (and A Dame to Die For), as well as stuff like Shoot Em Up, Sucker Punch etc.
Breaking 60
Nicely made, short (50mins) documentary about the 300km ultra marathon in Hong Kong that is only 'officially' completed if done in under 60 hours, unsupported. Lovely scenery but pretty light in detail compared to the wonderful Berkley Marathons documentary on Netflix. Worth a watch though.
As an aside, they need an actual human being curating the main content page. I noticed I Tonya just appeared, tucked away on there recently. Just, ya know, a recent Oscar winning movie.

I'm starting to lose it with Amazon. It seems that every time I finally find something that's interesting to watch, it turns out its on one of their add on channels or its one to rent. Considering its the same price as Netflix, the selection on Prime is pretty poor.
It's worth bearing in mind that Neflix's core product is the video / movies, whereas with Amazon it is an added benefit to a whole host of things. Clockwork Cupcake said:

I know that, but the prime music is a pretty poor selection too, I pay for Spotify. Delivery I use a couple of times a year, but not a lot. I loved Startup and Goliath, but I'm not really sure it justifies the price anymore. Its a jack of all trades, master of none.

Depending on how you access Amazon Video you can easily filter/view just Prime stuff on most devices. Whilst content is not as in depth as Netflix they are excellent at snapping up the rights to recent critically acclaimed stuff (Detroit, The Post, I Tonya, The Death of Stalin, Paddington 2 and Molly's Game being recent examples). Funnily enough Netflix are good at doing the opposite, buying up movies that couldn't find a theatrical release that once upon a time would have been 'straight to video', most so-called Netflix Originals are not ones made by Netflix.
For most I think the Prime package is considered as a whole. For us it easily pays its own way in deliveries alone (and if you have lots of non urgent deliveries you can build up loads of video credit to rent new movies), movies and TV is a bonus and there are also lesser known extras such as unlimited cloud photo storage (not a cheap option elsewhere) and loads of free music and books.
I really don't get the 'keep finding stuff but it's not free' argument, it's a) easily ignored, b) just extra choice without needing yet another app, and c) a chance to find/rent some very obscure content without signing up for another pay service such as Rakuten, Google Play or iTunes.
We have purchased a couple of films from Amazon, mainly for the kids as they tend to watch a film several times if they take a shine to it. It is cheaper than buying on Bluray or at the least the same price but with the added convenience factor and whilst we do download stuff we generally don't download films unless we'd previously bought them.
Plus Amazon Prime is great if they screw up an order, as way of compensation they will often add a month free!

Also with some of the add-on channels (eg. Motor Trend On Demand) you can sign up for a free trial and then cancelled after you've watched what you wanted to see.
Yes, just had a week of the BFI player which is full of great stuff, more than happy to sign up for a month or two of that in future.bexVN said:

They screwed up the delivery of an Occulus Rift yesterdaynly a day late & its a Xmas pressie anyway, but there have been a few late deliveries of late, so I moaned & they are repaying half my Prime fee. Still not sure I will bother renewing as I only ever watched The Grand Tour & Lucifer, which is now on Netflix, & I can probably wait for delivery

They used to give out a free extra month every time you contacted them with a query as a matter of course, but now you have to moan for one. Still not sure I will bother renewing as I only ever watched The Grand Tour & Lucifer, which is now on Netflix, & I can probably wait for delivery

Well, in my experience the last few times I've loaded up Amazon, that's exactly what I've found. I've found myself searching and searching for something that sparks an interest, and invariably on Amazon, the last few times this has happened, I've clicked on the summary and its popped up with an extra charge for a sub or rental fee. I'm just saying it how it is from my use, your experience may be different to mine. I'm more than happy to watch something obscure, but it has to interest me first.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
