A 2005 series called "TANKS!" is currently on Prime.

Terrible name (all capitals, and an exclamation mark), possibly the crappest opening titles ever, but the actual programmes are fairly interesting. If you are interested in tanks, that is.
I skipped past that because I thought that was an Irish remake of Cheers.
Good work sir - have a belated clap

Also belatedly, I've just discovered the Oats Studios / Neill Blomkamp collection of short films - awesome stuff if you liked District 9 / Elysium / Chappie

Anyone else having issues with Startup Season 3? The audio seems to be really poor quality and out of sync. I'm running an Apple TV 4k through a Denon receiver to an LG B7.

Started on Manhattan. 50s America and the project that is the shows namesake are big interests of mine so I am enjoying this just one show in. Friend of mine managed to binge about 8 hours of it!

Anyone watching the new Julia Roberts thing? The critics are loving it....

I watched the first one last night.
Intriguing story, if a bit slow to start....It looks fabulous though.

(edit for title )"Homecoming"
I watched the first one last week, which I thought was surprisingly short at about 30mins.

It was okay but, I haven't found myself compelled to go back and watch the second episode yet, which can't be a good sign!
I think it's 10 episodes of 30 mins so it's short overall. They managed to pack in a reasonably complex story with decent characters but if it weren't for the Julia Roberts hype it would just be lost in the millions of other options IMO.
Just finished the season. It had it's moments, but overall I found the whole thing quite bland. Agree with above.

I'm about 6 episodes in, and find myself only watching it when I've run out of everything else I'm watching. It's not really pulling me along either!

I quite enjoyed "The Resurrection of Jake The Snake" detailing the alcoholism and issues of Jake and other wrestlers and the sorry state that they have ended up , decent story and good bit of nostalgia if you watched the WWF in the 90's

I have just watched 'The Sweeney - Paris', a French remake of the recent Ray Winstone film, starring Jean Reno (sadly not called Jacques Regan).

Minimal plot, lots of car chases, gun fights, cursing etc like the original but classier because it has subtitles.
Put that in my watch list, went to watch it this weekend and they now want money to see it? Prime? Yeah right, not really seeing the value anymore

Dark Skies is by far the best example in that genre.

The Majestic 12 conspiracy theory as a TV series, brilliantly interweaves real historical events in the story line.

really enjoyed DS back in the day - IIRC it was cancelled before a resolution though? frown

Just found startup whilst staying in a terrible hotel with no WiFi, downloaded the first season for something to watch and I’m completely hooked, Martin Freeman is excellent as usual and a nice departure from his usual roles.

Everything was 'resolved' with extreme prejudice in the final episode.

The story had a definite end rather than a cliffhanger, as far as I can tell it was mostly about making sure the thing was thoroughly dead after cancellation.

I watched Dark Skies when it was first broadcast. IIRC the plan was for each series to be set in a different decade, but obviously it never got further than the 60s.

J. T. Walsh was a good actor and made a great heavy. Sadly he died way too young in 1998.

I'm undecided about Bosch.

Watched the first series, and it was OK. Although I felt it tried to be clever with a few twists, but they didn't surprise me that much because I just didn't really feel like I cared that much about where the story was going.

Second series is much the same. I watched the first 3 or 4 episodes at the weekend, and decided to watch a couple more last night - but as I decided to do that, I genuinely couldn't remember what the story line was or what they were investigating until I started watching the next episode.

It's the kind of thing I should like, the acting is decent, nothing wrong with the plots but it just doesn't seem to hold my attention and I never feel like I want to watch the next one to see what happens.

On the other hand, Jerry Ryan is in S2 (Seven of Nine from the old Next Generation) and she is definitely worth watching!

And she doesn't disappoint.

I absolutely love Bosch. Those who have read the books are generally very complimentary about it as far as I can recall.
