Just spotted Tower Block on Prime.
residents of a block of flats targeted by an unseen sniper after witnessing the murder of a teenager.

Thought it was pants.

But I'm currently half way through London Fields, which is taking pants to a whole new level.

Balloon.

Love true story stuff like this, and I have a slight obsession with the former Communist block. Lovely film, up there with Goodbye Lenin and The Lives of Others.

Treadstone is OK. There seems to be an attempt at an overall story arc but it's only OK.

Here's a thing though... how do the Americans manage to make a car or motorbike chase seem so pedestrian?
Just finished it. It was OK, but like a lot of these new TV series there seems to be no proper story, it feels more like a collection of scenes with very little progression. The car chases were laughable (obviously doing about 15mph in some shots, and a minor touch of bumpers causes both vehicles to leap 20ft in the air).
I think the biggest issue is that, having a large number of characters, you don't really care what happens to any of them. When one dies, it doesn't have any impact as you have no idea whether they are important to the overall plot or not.

New to this but came across Salyut 7. Outstanding cinema photography and of a historical moment I didn't know much about.
For all the bad stories we're told about the Russians, they've done some amazing things in space.
Just watched this at the weekend. It's based on Salyut 7, but certain things are a bit hammed up to make it a good story.

Worth watching though. Quite enjoyable.

I think it started off OK, but it all went wrong from the stupid car crash at the end of episode 2, which was so intelligence insultingly bad it came as a bit of a surprise and a portent of the ever more preposterous bks to come. I saw it through, but only just.

Joking aside though, the Russians made some amazing advancements in space technology and experience, albeit with shocking disregard for safety. Mankind owes a debt of gratitude them them, and to the Americans.

Noticed a few things lately on Amazon have a frame rate problem, James May being one of them, dropping frames so any panning shots are jerky as fek.

Anyone else have similar.

Just watching the Rob Delaney special now and that's doing it too.

"We are the league"

Documentary about the band the "Anti Nowhere League". Well worth watching if you have ever heard of them. Not everyones cup of tea and to that they would say, "So f*****g what!"

Yeah, I had that and really noticed it on the James May programme. I think my TV's amazon app has updated itself now though and it's gone away.

I've been really disappointed by Treadstone, mainly because it's such a cool idea for a show, but it seems to have been executed pretty poorly. Where the Bourne films had a realistic aesthetic that helps you suspend your disbelief, they've missed that on this show, it can get a bit Xena: Warrior Princess. That bloody car chase and crash was ludicrous, and you can almost hear the script meetings where they say "oh, I think we need another hand-to-hand combat scene here" or "oh, have him MacGyver something out of a laser pen while two characters that know what's going on explain the plot to each other anyway".

It must have cost so much money to make the show, but it's been let down by sloppy writing and not enough care and attention IMO.

Consider as well that they lost 20 million people during WW2 at the hands of the Nazi's, they've done a lot for the world.

self interest really - and had the idiotic corporal not been in place it's a fairly good bet that they'd have tried a similar land-grab

Yep, a common theme in a lot of recent shows. Plenty of money about it appears but clearly not a lot of talent.

I quite liked it, not as good as S1 but still enjoyed it, although some parts were pretty bad/unbelievable.

I finished watching the Aaron Hernandez thing last night, was a good watch. The guy was mad to give up what he had like that!

o/t (this is on NF) there is a school of thought that it is possible that severe brain injury (CTE) could account for a fair chunk of his misdeeds
