Binged it all today, thought it was pretty good for this type of show.
It’s great isn’t it? My 11 year old son is rationing it to two episodes a night!

Watched the new Alex Rider series that launched today with the 11 year old. It’s a more modern take on the previous film and shows how much the world has moved on in 15 years.
just started it tonight, really quite good.

If you can get this on Prime in the UK I strongly suggest you watch it.

Obviously as a Brit/German the themes resonate a bit stronger but it’s an unreal thriller.

Thanks for the recommendation - watched this last night and thought that it was excellent. Great sense that everyone was watching and not knowing who could be trusted and a very real feeling of tension at the end.
Glad you enjoyed it. These German actors are just amazing, I think.

The next night we watched another German film, Land Of Mine. Would recommend but it’s tough viewing if you have teenage sons (as I do). It’s...emotional.

The lead actor (Roland Møller, Danish) is an interesting character. Ex-career criminal who got into acting later in life. He’s pretty phenomenal as are the young German lads.

Never heard of it before, but I'm going to give The Last Ship a go.

When a global pandemic wipes out 80% of the planet's population the crew of a lone US navy destroyer must find a way to pull humanity from the brink of annihilation...

Too on the nose? We'll see. There are 5 seasons of it so it can't be terrible.

Smiler.

Loved series 1-4, series 5 was a bit meh, in fact I've not finished S5.

Properly good shallow action and espionage stuff.

Second season of Homecoming released a few days ago, no Julia Roberts this time but really enjoyed it all the same.
I trudged through the first series, and unusually the second is miles better. The time line is irritating as hell, but I could live without season 1 near wholesale after that. Mercifully short episodes too.

Season 2 of The Boys allegedly in post production. That would be a nice thing in 2020.

It’ll probably be banned before it reaches us for a sexist title and season 1 removed.

Noticed that 'The Prestige' - widely regarded as one of Christopher Nolan's best films - is now free on Prime

Blood Machines on Shudder. It's an odd one, I think I liked it. Can't think of anything I didn't like, it's just weird. Spaceship crash lands on a planet, something weird about ships being living things, naked woman with a glowing upside down cross. It's hard to explain really. Looked great though, in a low budget made to look like an 80s film on purpose sort of way. The soundtrack is Carpenter Brut, it all started off with a Kickstarter campaign and a music video called Turbo Killer

(There are no Corvettes or Countaches in Blood Machines though, because it's in space)

Little Fires Everywhere - Definitely one I’d have missed if it wasn’t for Mrs T wanting to see it. First episode makes you think it’s poor woman vs rich woman sort of thing but it progresses into much more. Written by a woman, focusing mainly on the female characters, it’s probably aimed at women too but once I got past the first one or two it got me hooked.
I've just seen E2. It's hard to describe and make it sound good but so far it's just a nice thing to watch. I'm enjoying it and glad I started it!
We just completed Little Fires Everywhere.

I really really didn't like it.

Mainly I think as all of the characters are awful people. There is no-one in it that is particularly likeable. Makes it very difficult to enjoy the program I thought.

Very difficult to describe too.

You did well - I didn't get to the end of the first episode.

I thought the Dad of the rich family was OK as an individual. But couldn't help thinking he should have been played by Jason Bateman.

I've found finding stuff to watch with the wife pretty tough, but Little Fires Everywhere worked for me as much as it did here.

I get the unlikeable characters, but the kids were likeable, just going through 'kid type stuff' whilst suffering with their parents failings (isn't that all of us to varying extents?)

It's well written and definitely one you wonder where's it going next.

Not my type of thing at all, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Also just binged the Alex Rider in a few nights and that really surprised us.....aimed at teens but adults can enjoy with them.... a rare treat for households with kids not on the scope of Ozark/Black Mirror or whatever, but adults not wanting to watch bloody Full House or something lol!
