Despite my reservations and some fairly positive comments, I finally watched Midway.

Despite the average CGI and the fact I found the lead actor hammy and annoying

It was alright smile

It's no Tora Tora Tora , but at least they attempted to stay true to history (dud torpedoes etc)

Skid Row Marathon.

Judge starts a running club for down and outs, culminating in an annual foreign marathon trip for those who stay the course.

Some uplifting tales of success and some failures - worth a watch

I actually didn't mind Midway, but I went into it expecting the absolute worst, but ended up being quite enjoyable (extra points for a couple of great shots of Yamato in all her glory). At the very least, it is certainly no worse than a lot of very lazy Hollywood clunkers that were churned out before it (thankfully) shut down for the foreseeable..

I think Midway gets a lot better about 45 minutes or so in.

They didn't really have the time, or budget, to properly depict the Pearl Harbour attack and so that felt lazy and cheap.

Once they get to the actual battle of Midway itself they give a fairly accurate portrayal of events and it is exciting and well done. A better movie would have started in the aftermath of Pearl harbour and missed off the Doolittle raid.

Ooh, just noticed all of The Professionals and The Sweeney are on Prime. Must have missed that.
Even though The Professionals is (very!) dated I still like it. Some warm sensation of being a child and watching something so exciting.
Professionals, Sweeney, Minder. Seen them all and yes, i agree, takes you back as soon as you hear the fantastic theme tunes.

I watched Tag last night about a group of middle aged men who still play Tag. I quite enjoyed it, but did feel it ended up having a few too many stereotypical characters. (They were well cast and played though.)

It also had Isla Fisher in, so there's that too. An easy watch at the end of a busy day.

Fisherman's Friends

Lovely feel good movie, resonated with me as my parents live in a Cornish fishing village.

This won't be news to most, but...

What We Do in the Shadows

Absolutely wonderful!

I love Taika but for some reason had never got around to watching this. It's the funniest thing I've watched for ages.

Watched that on the flight to Mauritius, I didn't think I'd enjoy it but I did, and it made me cry on the plane.

The real "Inglorious bds" documentary about where QT drew for his WW2 film.
The courage the 3 men displayed was absolutely immense with the consequences at stake.
The ending I had grit in my eye 😟😟

The Last Narc - investigation into kikis death.

Bit eye opening if true (wouldn't surprise me either)

Anyone watched 'Jexi'?

San Franciscan gadget geek gets a new phone with a mind of its own determined to take over every aspect of his life. It's hilarious, one of the funniest Prime films we've discovered.

It's utter, utter crap, IMO.

I couldn't agree more. biggrin

ETA Given our dubious taste in films perhaps I shouldn't mention two more that we've enjoyed:

'What we did on our holidays' and 'The Boys from County Clare'
