Just finished watching Knives Out - loved it.
Yes, same, superbly shot and edited, just brilliant. One of the best films I’ve watched in a while.

Mr ROBOT

started strong but i get the feeling they are padding it out a bit now - S1E3 or 4 where they all go on some sort of drug bender - yawnfest......hope it improves as strong recom. from this thread.

The storytelling varies in interesting and unexpected ways...... for example there's definitely one episode that comes up that you will either love or hate because it goes so weird. But regardless the plot (thickens) develops nicely across all seasons - there are several complete WTF moments, that won't be obvious for the first time viewer (and which I can confirm are still quite shocking for the second time viewer!). There's the odd episode when the shocking thing that happens is at the START of the episode rather than exclusively the end.

Of course, once you get over the most obvious devices, like the fourth wall treatment from the very start, it may be that you can find it a bit boring, but there's plenty of "hang on, is that real, or is THAT real?" moments and different characters perspectives popping up. And there's lots more story, both in the future and a bit in the past to be confused about hehe

If you like it at all, it is rewarding to stick with it; although I'd agree that if you're not getting it....just cut your losses and move on. But I'd watch it for the many good performances alone. I think it's a very good production all round. (Didn't quite enjoy Esmail's more recent "Homecoming" quite as much, but similar quirkiness about storytelling - and maybe that's the Marmite Factor)

Yup - I LOVED it and am half way through a complete re-watch!

i thought it was st, and if i had to explain it now wouldn't have a clue, it felt very millennial, all style no real substance.

another 2 episodes in and (IMHO!) i'm seeing the same --- brilliant late-teen with angst against society and corporate greed - thick layers of R15 languagedrug use makes it "edgy"..... i'm losing interest.........

The Boys Season 2 out on September 4. One of the best things on TV last year IMO.

Feeling rather grumpy that seasons 1 and 2 of The Bureau were free with Amazon Prime, but seasons 3 and 4 require you to sign up via Amazon with a side channel (Sundance Now) for another £6 a month. Not as if there's anything else worth watching on that channel either.

Official Secrets - GCHQ worker leaks secret document to the press about Blair and Bush attempting to strongarm the UN into allowing the Iraq War. Good british cast, familiar story worth retelling. 7/10

Caught this the other night. Enjoyable and well done, apart from the exterior shots being the opposite end of the country to Cheltenham. I don't remember the story in the press at all.
