Started watching the American remake of utopia. Loved the original but not feeling this one, must go track the original down...
You won't need to go far to find the original. It's alongside the remake on Amazon Prime. (Or at least it was last week)
Ace thanks! Gonna give the Americans a go first.
Now that is a fantastic series , and you have the benefit of watching the entire series knowing that there is a proper ending with no cancellation to worry about.

Just about to binge the sixth and final season of Justified with the loose cannon US Marshall hitting the hillbillies.

Despite dears it may slide, it's been consistently good with good performances throughout, especially Walton Higgins and Timothy Oliphant.

Of minor interest is that I googled the AMC Gremlin "Electra" to find the exact same car was used in the 2010 "Outlaw".
One of my favourite series, excellent script

We've been binge watching The Fall after missing it when it was shown on terrestrial TV.

Started well, but not quite sure with Jamie Dornan as the killer as he seems to be overacting it in places in series 2. Decent though.

Plus Gillian Anderson cloud9
Worth watching through series 3 although a bit stretched out.
Hopefully the Gillian Anderson character returns for future series!

That wasnt the case for me a few days back?. Highest rated movies were all the usual Hollywood fare.

Parasite has just been added (and 1917 recently), Amazon really are going for it with their acquisitions. Probably better a selection of 'nearly new' movies than any other service now, just a shame the UI is absolute trash when it comes to discovering stuff.

It seems to get worse each time they tinker with it too. I used to find all sorts of stuff by accident through a link to a link to a link, but not anymore. Anyone would think they only had about a hundred films and a two dozen box sets, rather than thousands and thousands. Even using the search function for a certain genre or requirement only gives a handful of suggestions then reverts back to the same old listings, and each list is damn near the same too as one scrolls through.

Der Hauptmann

Pretty incredible WWII true story. Good film, enjoyed it, and learned a bit.

In German with subtitles.

When you click view more/all does it still take you to what looks like an amazon store page?

I cant believe amazon which has one of the biggest tech teams in the world makes the worst video platform of all time.

Looking for stuff on their website is much better than through the firestick, but still poor.

A simple A to Z with absolutely everything listed would be a great option.

I use Prime Video through their app on the fire stick and find it about equal to Netflix.

Usually find a few interesting possibilities in the 'additional suggestions' that list underneath anything that you click through to 'more information' on.

Yup, especially as the inbuilt app on my smart TV is a buggy, laggy lethargic POS these days no matter what I try. Makes it impossible to just idly browse through what's available, unless I've got an exact show or film I want to put on I tend not to bother.

1917 and The Gentlemen were the most recent two that tempted me enough to suffer the blood pressure increase of navigating the Prime app to watch. Both well worth it, 1917 especially.

Likewise. Really enjoyed Justified and binge watched every series over a few weeks of commuting last year smile

Anyone else find it a PITA to find a decent movie now on Prime? Seems to be the same old stuff with little new at present.

Nowhere near to Netflix on a Roku box

The Netflix App has

Trending Now
New Releases
Then rows for various genres

The Amazon App has

Things we think you will like
New releases
and then various rows of nonsense including many movies that both not amazon prime releases and not new releases for rental.

Just realised, we're not on the Fire Stick any more, now we use the Prime and Netflix apps on a Philips TV. Works ok for me. It is made more complicated by the free/not free question, granted.

It really is terrible. I don't understand why you can't browse by genre/age rating/review rating or whatever.

As mentioned a little bit further up they're great at adding new stuff, it's just finding it that's a pain.

Parasite, 1917, The Gentleman, David Copperfield, Bombshell, Queen and Slim in terms of 'recent releases'

Then they keep adding archive stuff at quite a rate, Ides of March, Edge of Tomorrow, Crazy Rich Asians, Hitman's Bodyguard, Men Who Stare at Goats, Lucy, Drive, Blair Witch etc all fairly recent additions, miles better than Netflix which have pretty much ditched the hosting of 'old' movies.

They're probably equal with Sky Movies now in terms of acquiring films after their cinema run, arguably better (certainly for me) as they focus far more on well-received independent films than franchise stuff.

And also filter out pay for content (the mobile app allows this, why not the TV app).

If you know what you want, you can search but as you say rubbish for browsing.

Also, if there is a 4K version, why not play that automatically - why show the normal version if better is available - I don't to search for every title I watch to see if there's also a 4K version.

Netflix (UI) is miles ahead.

I would quite like a row of movies that are new releases for rental, but the amazon UI usually doesn't give it to me and instead I have to search for a particular movie by name.

The rows of nonsense often include movies that are both not available on amazon prime and are not for rental.....

It is a broken interface.

Netflix UI is ahead but is still stinks.
