I didn't realise there was a new Jack Ryan series. The old one (2018) - Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (starring John Krasinski) - was rather good. They are asking us to believe Martin Freeman is a nerdish CIA action man?
Maybe need a parrot thrown at me, but what's Martin Freeman got to do with Jack Ryan?matrignano said:

Maybe need a parrot thrown at me, but what's Martin Freeman got to do with Jack Ryan? We’re watching the first season, the Jack Ryan character is played in the same way Martin Freeman plays his one dimensional characters. Take a look at the Hobbit, Fargo Sherlock etc etc, always the same style, same facial tick, same mannerisms; one dimensional, flat and infuriating. I merely pose that the Jack Ryan character exudes those same annoyingly tepid character traits.

I'm enjoying Truth Seekers, 4 episodes in. Getting Inside No.9 vibes, that said I am a Frost/Pegg fan
Two episodes in. I think it’s very light/easy going. The scary level is “Nando’s Peri-peri mild”. I’d give it a 6/10.
Just finished it
Enjoyable silliness (lemon and herb) but not a spaced style classic.
It's rubbish!
But that sort of incredibly enjoyable mix of spit out yer tea and scary bits sort of rubbish that's bloody addictive.
I mean you know what you're getting after the first few frames, and yes there are a few times early on when it's tempting to give up, and finally when you get there the plot is all a bit hackneyed...
...but some generally great bits. Malcolm McDowell - so, so, so reminiscent of some things in A Clockwork Orange. Definitely some Whovian humour in it. Some great gags about modern tech, too.
Eight hammed up Baddies out of ten Hot Fuzzes - slides off the eyes like hot knives through buttery flesh.....

Final Countdown
1980
A modern aircraft carrier gets caught in a storm which transports it back to 1941, just before the Japanese assault on Pearl Harbour.
Recommended, much better than it sounds. Great flying sequences, plenty of F14s and once you accept the premise far more intelligent and well plotted than Top Gun.1980

Just finished binging Hell on Wheels, an outstanding and brutal tale about building the railways in 1860's America. Sounds boring at first glance but well worth a watch.
Now on Black Sails, only two in on the first series, looks promising but hasn't got me hooked yet.

Just the way I did it. Hell on Wheels then Black Sails. Just finished binging Hell on Wheels, an outstanding and brutal tale about building the railways in 1860's America. Sounds boring at first glance but well worth a watch.

I found the same with Black Sails, first few episodes were ok but picked up when you get to the big ships at sea.
I've come back to Black Sails for my turbo-trainer viewing, one and a half episodes into series 2, and enjoying it again.
I started Upload with the missus last night, and there's a lot to like for me. It seems like a lot of thought has gone into the "nearish future" world. It will be interesting to see how the story pans out, and the girlfriend is pretty tasty...

Just finished season 1 of Utopia (the English original). Brilliant, this one had completely passed me by.
Just watched both series of this (not the American version, a bit rubbish apparently). What an excellent series, not sure how I missed it when it was on Channel 4. Amusingly topical as well, just a shame they didn't make any more series.Iron Fury
7 T-34s out of 10 Tigers
Q: do you like Tanks?
Can you over look some terrible English over Russian voice dubbing?
Can you switch your brain off to some rather fanciful underdog plot lines?
Did you like the film Fury with Brad Pitt and/or Band of Brothers?
Do you really really like tanks fighting at close quarters, lots of special (and not so special sometimes) effects, and slow-mo missile strikes?
A: you might just really like this! - Its pretty much action all the way through and was a massive smash in Russia.

Possibly of limited interest but
"Sit Stay Ride: The story of America's sidecar dogs"
Easy viewing doc about dogs in sidecars. As a biker with 2 Jack Russells I've always had a wee fantasy about taking them about in a sidecar so quite enjoyed this

I subscribe to Amazon Prime UK.
A couple of weeks ago one of my daughters used Prime Video via her laptop, and when she logged in it prompted her to confirm which country she was in. Without checking with Dad "why?", she clicked on Luxembourg (where we live) and removed most of the available content for us, including films and series I'd already started watching.
Arse biscuits.
Does anyone know how to reverse this geolocation issue?
