Amazon Prime Video, what gems have you found? (NO SPOILERS)
Discussion
We are addicted to NCIS , we are about half way through the 17 seasons , something like 200+ episodes .
The format does not change , the banter is always the same , and Gibbs always solves the murder etc . Bit like Midsomer Murders
Great wallpaper instead of the endless repeats on mainstream channels .

I watched The Whiskey Bandit last night.
A foreign film with subtitles based on the true life events surrounding a East European bank robber in the late 90s/early 2000s who became a folk legend for armed robberies where he would never shoot anyone but would leave behind the strong scent of Whiskey.
At just over 2 hours long, it starts as a bit of a slow burner but the story builds up well. It seems to capture the post communism/early free market period in Romania and Hungary very well.
The film seems to have a lot more depth to it than you'd expect from a bank robber film and is a lot more than just armed robberies and getaway scenes although there's some of those too.
I'm close to giving it a 9/10. It's certainly a strong 8 in my opinion.
Not sure how close to the true story it is but had some interesting twists and turns.

I really wouldn't bother. I enjoyed it so wouldn't write it off for everyone. Then again, I also enjoyed Dunkirk as well as Fury so not sure how good a judge I am of WW2 films.

Fury was very decent until its end action scene. The purists will be asking why a Sherman equipped with the 76mm, rather than the less powerful 75mm, had to charge a Tiger in order to fire at the side or rear armour (the 76mm could penetrate the frontal armour of a Tiger at up to 600 metres with HVAP). It was also very dubious them having to fight a Tiger at all given how infrequently this actually happened.
Other than that though it is probably the best WW2 tank movie you can watch.

"Oh Cook!" from James May.
He was peddling to Giles Coren on Times Radio yesterday, then it came in on a Prime email this morning so I browsed it (well Ep1) whilst grazing some fish and chips for lunch.
Now clearly (partly because it's James May) it's going to polarise.
And WTF is it supposed to be? A serious programme for non-cooks? A random Wikipedia of cooking related facts interspersed with shots of May guzzling down wine at 9:00am? A comedy (of errors)?
I don't really know - but (as one D Adams Esq would phrase it) it's mostly harmless.

Elvis & Nixon - film about Elvis meeting with Nixon to get himself a 'Special Agent at Large' badge. A true story, and made me smile, especially once it got to the Whitehouse. Thumbs up.
Thanks for that. It started off mildly amusing, quite whimsical, but when it got going it was hilarious.Whisper it, but I remain a huge fan of Kevin Spacey.

It's not much more than a vehicle for his new book. Conveniently, just in time for Christmas. He was peddling to Giles Coren on Times Radio yesterday, then it came in on a Prime email this morning so I browsed it (well Ep1) whilst grazing some fish and chips for lunch.

I saw this in the cinema (do you remember those places we used to be able to go watch films with strangers carrying God knows what infections).

FURY is a superb film. I only found out recently my grandpa had a link to the very famous Tiger tank they used during filming.I enjoyed it so wouldn't write it off for everyone. Then again, I also enjoyed Dunkirk as well as Fury so not sure how good a judge I am of WW2 films.
I saw 1917 on IMAX, it was pretty impressive on that format, but i can see how the film might not stand up as well on a home viewing. Still worth watching though I think.

Iron Fury
7 T-34s out of 10 Tigers
Q: do you like Tanks?
Can you over look some terrible English over Russian voice dubbing?
Can you switch your brain off to some rather fanciful underdog plot lines?
Did you like the film Fury with Brad Pitt and/or Band of Brothers?
Do you really really like tanks fighting at close quarters, lots of special (and not so special sometimes) effects, and slow-mo missile strikes?
A: you might just really like this! - Its pretty much action all the way through and was a massive smash in Russia.
Looks good, but not free on Prime?7 T-34s out of 10 Tigers

So finished watching James May Oh Cook and well it was better than I thought.
Its one of those programmes you watch and relax like you can switch your mind off so for that I give it bonus points.
May and his usual funny/straight to the point self and Nicky who appears from the cupboard (god knows what she does in there all that time) make this show very enjoyable.
Edit: forgot to add the funniest bit is that
James May the only person in the world that services a cheese grator...episode 3
Made me laugh..typical James!

The funny thing is that all of them were supposed to be having individual shows coming to Prime and so far it is only May, twice.
Don't get me wrong he is a good presenter, and we liked his Japan series, but where are the other two?
Think based on Drivetribe James's did alot of videos there on youtube and also got many views. Think overall he is the presenter that does additonal programmes that are a success like james mays toys etcDon't get me wrong he is a good presenter, and we liked his Japan series, but where are the other two?
Or maybe the other two cant be bothered..
