All my stuff comes next day just fine, and the telly is excellent as effectively a freebie, as is Amazon music.

Unlimited photo storage, the images are not compressed and are easily redownloaded
But apart from that, what has the Bezos ever done for us? smile

In years gone by they would have extended my membership by a month for every missed delivery but these days I find I just get fobbed off with a "sorry" on the very rare occasions when they don't fulfil their "next day promise". Although, having said that, I have noticed that delivery estimates aren't always Next Day any more.
Exactly. The 'next day' promise didn't last long before they started srating longer delivery times for each order.

No, honestly, most of my Amazon orders these days are still scheduled for next day delivery and achieve it.

As I said, I think it varies by location. I guess you're just in a bad place. smile

I didn't say I didn't rate the delivery side of it. I said they aren't able to honour their self-inflicted promised of next day delivery.

I get more than £79 worth of shipping value from them, although I never asked for (and never need) next day delivery. So I'll continue to pay my £79 (even though they've paid it for me for the last year and a half), and I'll get the telly for free, and moan about how rubbish it is.

My point was that they thought they could do free delivery and Amazon Video for £79pa and they can't. Hence lots of stuff on Amazon Video costs more.

ETA. And I had Prime delivery before Prime telly too.

Prime delivery isn't always next day, each item have their own schedule shown on the listing, often it's next day, but not always. What it does give you is Free delivery on items listed as part of the Prime service.

I know! rolleyes

When they first started Prime, they said free delivery was next day, but they couldn't live up to it. This is why they kept giving me free months' on my subscription, because they couldn' live up to a promise that nobody asked them to make.

I'm beginning to wish I'd never bloody mentioned it now.

I better not mention same day delivery then! smile

Oooh, and one other thing we haven't mentioned yet is free returns.

Amazon Prime customers rarely have to pay the postage when returning an item. In fact, I think the only time I have been stiffed with postage is with some Amazon Marketplace sellers.

One caveat is Lithium Ion batteries. Amazon are a bit sneaky and won't pay for your return postage, but instead credit you a fixed amount to reimburse you. It is rarely enough unless you outright lie to Royal Mail about the package contents.

Anyway, I digress. Apologies.

In fairness, I did mark each of my replies with the "O/T" flag. But a) yeah fair comment and b) I don't think those flags mean anything, and they may not even be shown on the mobile version.

But... sorry. paperbag

Ok -
Just watched Official Secrets. Worth a watch, and makes one wonder how the Iraq War V2 would have been received in a modern world, or by oneself with some more years behind me

Thought I'd finally watch Dune since it will be leaving Amazon at the end of the month. I remember growing up hearing a lot of praise for it but I never got round to watching it for one reason or another. Wow this is definitely a product of the time, it has not aged well at all! Very ambitious for the 80s on an obviously tight budget, unfortunately it doesn't have the polish of Blade Runner and feels like its several books condensed into a single 2hr film. This is one film I'm glad is being remade, looking forward to the new film when we can finally go back to the cinemas

No, no, no - I meant in the sense of.... "of course we need to get back..." AND "well that's an interesting aside...would you just mind if I mention..." No criticism meant - there's always something interesting to learn - and some very valid points...with all of us landing on a slightly different view on the spectrum of the Bezos-Hell-Hound vs St Bezos-of-all-things-popping-out-of-the-sky debate..... hehe

yep

I have the amazon photos app on my phone rather than icloud sync, backs up all my photos and has an on this day feature much like facebook to show you old photos and memories.
Creations of albums is a bit crap and they dont give you much video storage.

Back to watching stuff, currently trickling through Justified, its ok as a time filler but lacks any real depth.

Currently watching Scandal, a series that makes Trump’s presidency look stable, I can only assume the writers were smoking crack and wondering how far they could push the murderous ways of the politicians before viewers switched off. Having said that it is quite enjoyable in a guilty secret sort of way.

Good work! I have 8 episodes left so it looks like I will make it after all, not bad considering I only started season 1 after lunch on Sunday!

To be honest, it was too much to binge in such a short space of time and has probably detracted from my enjoyment of the series somewhat. Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying it immensely but, it has felt like a slog at times.

Watched this last year.

If you totally suspend belief, it’s quite a good drama.

Not to be taken seriously though
