I'm up to episode 6 of S1 of The Americans, so far, bar the unexpected scene in the pilot/ trailer, so wholly predictable.

Does it improve?

Comrade detective.

It's pretending to be a Romanian Cold War cop show which is dubbed into English. Very amusing.
Watching this now, really good. Someone mixed up Red Heat and The Professionals lol

We really like the Americans. If you don't like it after a couple of episodes, I guess you're not going to get into it.

I loved The Americans. I found it gripping right from the first episode through to the last episode so far. But then, I love anything to do with the Cold War, espionage, spying etc.

As above, if you don't like it after a couple of episodes, I think you should maybe try something different!

"The Tick" its one of those programmes you really should not like because its awful but I love it with shades of early Batman thrown in.

Had a bout of insomnia last night so binged the whole series, The Tick even sounds like Adam West, and Overkill is clearly a Deadpool ripoff - good brain out fun though

I just watched The Tick as well.

Very amusing. But over all too quickly. frown

The cliffhanger at the end made me burst out laughing though. hehe

Gosh really? silly

I think you might possibly have missed the fact that all of the characters are parodies of the superhero trope. wink

I'm still on The Americans. S2 does get better. Lots of good and unexpected complexity, meaning the stories and interplay between the characters is all worth watching.

I've watched a massive number of utterly ste films though:

- Rock 'n' Rolla. Purlease, you're not Lock Stock, so why try so hard?

- From Paris with Love. Diabolical.

- Contraband. The same. I don't know why I expected something with Mark Wahlberg as the lead so long after the cheesy-but-very-watchable Shooter (also on Prime) to be any good.

- Last Man Standing. Bruce Willis with a voiceover, avoid.

At least there is a lot of good on there at the moment, Chinatown, Contagion, The Firm, Shutter Island, Kiss the Girls and Along Came A Spider... Even Luke Goss in Interview with a Hitman is a surprisingly good yarn.

Bit late to this thread but just to confirm what others have said

Bosch - brilliant
Black Sails - just watching season 4 now - really enjoyed this one
The Americans - hubby liked this one, not for me though.
The Tick - watched the pilot, will be watching the series.
The Grand Tour - had to really, it was why we got Amazon Prime initially!

Will be scrolling through this thread to see what others people recommend.

Thank you, will look at that one. Think we are doing Vikings next. Though I am having major withdrawals from knowing we've finished Black Sails, I thought it was brilliant! So much so I have just started reading Treasure Island!!

Vikings is very good, and I ended up liking that more than Black Sails, which had a little too many long-winded conversations at times, I thought.

Most people have probably seen it but I’ve been watching Preacher on amazon prime. Enjoying it so far. It’s got a god devil angels vibe about it, but not as dark as American gods.
