Ooo, lots of pressure on this!

Good to see the cast there, really hope it's good!

I tried reading the Trainspotting book, couldn't do it due to all the Scottishness of it

I read it on honeymoon biggrin

Even being from Edinburgh, it took me a couple of paragraphs before the way it was written made sense in my head as I read it.

Something about slang and colloquialisms being written down made it weird to read at first.

I've never read it but I just googled a section. fk me like, I understand every word, I'm from central Scotland and this is how I generally talk, but when you see it written, your brain reads it in a retarded voice, sounding it out wrong and taking a pure age to process it. laugh

Thanks, just recorded it for the mrs.

her: oh that's good, I liked the first one
me: yeah we will need to go to see it
her: how they going to do it about a train again
me: wtf, eh wit?
her: well last one was that train that couldn't slow down
me: that's unstoppable ya fud.
her: that not the same film.
me: your an idiot.

in her defence she's 22 but still. honestly.

My mate did say that they should have called it tramspotting though. I thought that was rather good.

I've read 'skag boys' (the prequel to trainspotting) trainspotting and porno and even though I'm from Scotland it still takes a while to get my head round how its written. but the easiest thing I've found is literally treat it like catchphrase- say what you see!!! just sound everything out in your head (not out loud unless you want people to shout at you!) as its written down and it kinda makes sense and all goes in.

TThis trailer has created a surprising amount of joy...

Really, really loved the first - but haven't watched it for years. Will have to dig it out.

Read pretty much all Irvine Welsh's books - once I'd got into the ability to smoothly read they style, I figured I'd maximise it by reading them all back to back.

Around half way through, pretty much evry wis chirping aboot ma fkin mooth, dinnae ken wha tha fk they wis greetin aboot...

Listened to train spotting, skag boys and porno all on audio book. I'm from Yorkshire and it took me a while to work out:

Greetin
Swedge
Chib
Wido
Bam
Dippit
Ken
Welt
Ya hole
Gam
Likesee (spud)
Weegie
Jambo

And the rest,

No pressure Mr Boyle but if you mess this up you better emigrate. To the moon.

Watched the trailer about 10 times, all of the trailer and not just 1:08, and I love all the little repeats from the original. Most of the cast have aged really well.

I found it quite easy to follow the books; there were a few unfamiliar words ('radge', for one) but after that initial setback it was smooth sailing. That discovery proved really interesting for me as I'm in Northern Ireland and there are definite similarities in our use of English.

I bought Trainspotting on laserdisc whilst in New York many, many years ago. Inside the sleeve there was a sheet printed with the translations from Scots slang to English...

I've seen too much of Ewan over the years now to be taken to the right place, but the second Spud comes on the screen... I'm back!

Begbie remains one of the scariest creations to ever hit the screen, I can watch horror films all night long, but they're not real...

I watched T1 again yesterday... twice hehe

Such a good film. When it came out first I watched it three times at the cinema in one week.

Really hoping T2 is going to be epic.

Just seen the trailer. I watched the 1st again in a cinema alone with a couple on a revamp run a year ago. I got over my uncomfortableness and settled in. Boy, the raw, fast pace. It was ace

Can I take a moment of your time to urge you all to revisit the Trainspotting soundtrack CDs? Volume #1 and Volume #2 here for your enjoyment. I've listened to Born Slippy quite a few times today, so it feels right to remind the rest of you about the soundtrack as well.

biggrin

I've had Pulp's Mile End running in my head for a few days now, in fact I was playing it before watching the film again and had completely forgotten it was used in the film. Spooky!

I've spent a few days humming it out loud whilst out shopping, and a few days learning the chords whilst sat at home strumming.

Guess it touches your soul a little deeper if you've lived there walking home past burning cars and seen coked up retards knife each other over a game of pool.

I wouldn't be the biggest fan of Pulp, but Mile End and Common People are absolutely cracking tracks. Pity I've no idea how to play guitar because learning the chords sounds like it would be enjoyable.
