I'm hoping that when Amazon start screening the new season that they will make all previous seasons available too. I would hope that part of buying the rights to the show would include that.

I seem to remember that it took forever to see season 2 in the UK, by which time many people had become fed up of waiting and used alternative sources.

Well Amazon have the Season 3 blu-ray on pre-order for.....NOVEMBER 2019.

I suspect, as others have, that Seasons 3 & 4 will turn up at the same time before that on Prime (3 for free and 4 paid, possibly?)

<Cough>

The only reason I have been able to see it was because of a friend with alternative sources.

Season three is still not available on streaming services in the UK. I think Amazon are waiting for a previous distributors licence to lapse which was supposedly in December.
Who are these previous distributors? It's not showing on any UK services that I'm aware of; hasn't done so for a year-ish.

SyFy for OTA, and Netflix for streaming. I should imagine they have inflicted quite a bit of pain on Amazon in terms of restricting what they can do. Amazon must have a lot of faith that the delay on this hiatus will be worth and pay back in future; another 3 seasons rumoured after S4, from memory?

I was watching it legally on Netflix. It was made out to be a "netflix original". Which is why it was then pulled .... utterly ridiculous. May have to investigate alternative sources ..... something that I have never, ever used.

Netflix Original is a bit of a misnomer - as well as shows they've created, and shows they've taken on, they also use it for shows which they have exclusive distribution rights in certain territories, they have lost those rights for The Expanse.

I've been streaming it via another source. Haven't been binging it but enjoying S3.

I said it this time last year but I really think the last 2-5 years will be seen as a high water mark for online streaming services, they are becoming ever more fragmented from here on out. Shame.

"All we know for sure is that the period of exclusivity granted to the two broadcasters (Syfy and Space) is ending really soon, and Prime US will proceed immediately with the release of s3."

That was two months ago frown

Agreed, it is of course all money driven. Why sell your show to a streaming service when you can just set up your own streaming service and have all of the money? Except there will a limit to how many streaming services people will pay for. I have Netflix and Prime but I won't be paying for Disney+ or whatever they call it. I'll be getting my Disney content from other sources instead.

Exactly.

While companies like sky get bashed, they do deliver a massive amount of content for not a lot of money through NowTV and I don't see that lasting much longer. On Hulu (US) you now pay extra to access HBO content for example, and I think it is the same with Crave - a new one recently launched in Canada.

I barely used 'other sources' for the last 5 years, which I remember thinking when I went looking for The Terror (which I didn't finish) and then more recently it has been Nightflyers and The Expanse.

Same here. It seems that over the past few years, we watch less and less TV, and only really watch series' from Netflix, Amazon and blu-rays that I buy.

I have no idea how people can stomach terrestrial TV (and SKY for that matter) with the adverts, and paying the BBC fee feels like a kick in the teeth, and we watch zero BBC content.

Anyway, my Expanse Series 3 should arrive next week, looking forward to binge-watching that..

Nobody needs “friends”, its all out there on the internet just a few strokes of your keyboard or Internet connected TV’ remote.

I watched it (series 3) on my big lounge TV 6 months ago. It’s very good.

yeah, but that pre-supposes there is something worth watching enough to FF every 10-15 mins in the first place.

Sky get HBO content. HBO have made (and continue to make) some of the best TV going.

Had season 3 Blu Ray arrive today from the US, 5 episodes in and I think that, thus far, these are some of the best episodes I have seen. Love this more than BSG right now.
