Just finished the new book, definitely way up there with the classic scifi IMO.
I wonder if they'll just finish the Free Navy storyline and leave the rest open for a potential future series or two.
I believe that the idea is that they leave the final three books (which have a long time jump from the preceding books?) alone, for a separate series of films/mini series in the future.I wonder if they'll just finish the Free Navy storyline and leave the rest open for a potential future series or two.
I haven't read the books yet - have had the first one for ages in my Kindle library - and will read them when the TV show is done.
Said the same thing about GoT - not going to happen now (not least because I don't think that the books will be finished) but won't be the case with The Expanse.

Thanks, I'll have a look for them.Other than a couple of things, not a lot happened for the last but one episode ever. I'm also worried about where it goes from here. Unless they know something we don't.

Considering Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham are writing the screenplays, I'm going to assume they know what they're doing and not worry about it until I actually see it Other than a couple of things, not a lot happened for the last but one episode ever. I'm also worried about where it goes from here. Unless they know something we don't.

I'm really hoping that they're covertly planning a follow on series. Enjoyed S6 so far, but feel that there's way too much left to be resolved in a single episode whilst still doing it justice.Other than a couple of things, not a lot happened for the last but one episode ever. As above, there's a natural pause in the book narrative that seems to be where S6 is heading. The stuff beyond has already been foreshadowed.

Lot of filler in the last couple of episodes.
Huh? I think they are if anything pushing it along a little too fast. It could benefit from a full 10-episode run so as not to make things feel too rushed (which was super-evident in the final season of GoT).That said, the accelerated pace is making for eventful episodes and it doesn't feel near as rushed as GoT was.
So frustrating. I absolutely love this, and even though I have Prime, I bought the Blu-Rays of each season.
But damn, only 6 episodes this season, and the episodes are slightly shorter than previous seasons too! Such a shame, seeing this rushed like this. I still maintain that the first half of Season 3 is the best. I remember watching with my heart in my mouth, as I hadn't yet read the books. Then Season 4 dragged to a crawl, but 5 was a little better - although the drawn out episodes with Naomi on the ship did really drag. And then we seem to be flying way too fast through the final season, when in the past, they had a whole 10 episode dedicated to the Eliss (or Illiess?) planet.
Pacing has been a tad schizophrenic, to say the least, and as there is a three decade gap between the end of this and the next book, it is disappointing.

It does all feel rushed and I have no idea how they're going to wrap this up.
I will say though, thanks to the other seasons that haven't failed and provided enough depth to the multiple threads, that even though it's a break-neck pace with little really to fill it out, it's doing a great job taking true advantage of the framework laid, the little extra clips each episode do quite a lot too I feel, the latest one having no real meaning to the plot in general but adding a bit of meat where the episode is lacking.

I'd expect a conclusion to the Free Navy conflict, but I don't see how they could possibly resolve the threads of Laconia and the Protomolecule builder - killers. I expect there'll be some development on one of those threads and then it left hanging to be picked up in the future.
I sure hope that there is a season 7!

How so? (I haven't read the books).
The 5 minute bits at the start of each show, showing life on Laconia and the activation of the alien technologies. That platform orbiting the planet is particularly important.I really hope they manage to continue the show somehow, books 7 - 9 are awesome.

Those Laconia bits are pretty annoying. The kid can't act and these segments are just too shallow and take away from screen time for the main plot arc. I also wasn't a fan of all the screen time spent on Ilus in S4 too (nor that plot, which seems quite cliched), though seems to be related to the same longer term stuff.I really hope they manage to continue the show somehow, books 7 - 9 are awesome.
If they don't pay it off in some meaningful way this season I'll be pretty annoyed, even if they are setting up post-TV series events from the books for TV movies or mini-series (which may never happen).
