What's the most depressing film you've ever watched?

Watching the Imitation Game really affected me, it really brought home how badly Alan Turing, and no doubt others of similar standing in the UK war machine, were treated after the war because of their sexuality. You can't help thinking if it had been money or women the police would have been leant on by someone because of his war record.
From what I understand what he did was so secretive that almost no one of power or influence knew who he was and what he had done.Although I suspect as you say there probably was a large dose of homophobia from the select few who did know.
Whatever the one is that Zach Braff wrote and directed that wasn't garden state. About 3 old friends growing up and becoming adults. The fact that what awaits most of us is dull mediocrity for 40 years was a little hard to take just after finishing uni and being at a similar point in life.
Going to be a rock star? Nope.
Going to be an F1 driver? Nope.
But hey, if you work hard then maybe you could get into middle management and buy a new cardigan! Which you can where while in your normal house and normal car doing a normal commute.

Very talented man that Zach Braff, Garden State is a favourite film of mine. Going to be a rock star? Nope.

The Divide
That's the one , there wasn't much good to come out of it .Agree on A.I. - emotional film. I think Kubrick could have pulled it off better anyway.

From what I can remember A.I was really good and more emotional than depressing.
I just remember it being unremittingly bleak, going on and on and on and then ending depressingly. More vexed kitten than disappointed horse if you will.

anybody watched "A Serbian Film" Ive not watched it, but read the content.
I have. I'd advise against it. The German-made Stalingrad for kinda obvious reasons. The ones who die early on are probably the lucky ones
or possibly Last Exit To Brooklyn, because the only bloke not to have a thoroughly miserable time, all of the time, was the bloke too stupid to understand how unrelievedly horrendous everyone's life was
