Taylor Sheridan.

Writer, director and producer of shows such as Yellowstone and Mayor Of Kingstown.

Really interesting guy. The 3.5 hours flew by.

Does anyone think the format is way too long? Who has time to listen to a 3hr+ podcast apart from stoner students? I'm sure they could edit an hour out and it would be the better for it.

Yes. Way, way too long.

I walk to work 3 days a week, 40 mins each way.
Perfect for me.
Some are too long and I've called it quits early on, but some of the content is really interesting and the long duration is a plus.

Difficult one, as his whole usp early on was uninterrupted, unscripted, unedited interviews until they ran out of steam.

I suppose if it’s a really interesting person or topic you enjoy the length feels ok. But I’m probably now listening to 1/20 these days. Really feels like he needs some high quality guests to shake things up and maybe reduce the output. But that’s just my take. He still always seems be in top Spotify listens.

I enjoyed the show back a few years ago when Joe seemed genuinely interested in every guest and it was clear he was very smart and had done research. Now he comes across as an embittered conspiracy theorist believing any old dross he finds on the internet in the producer googles it and proves him wrong.. only to brush it off and ignore it. He got the sound bite.

I just caught the latest Elon one (I really enjoyed his last one). Seemed to be an anti-woke fest of mutual back slapping for buying Twitter and saving the world.

I enjoy the length of them.. I have a bunch of "short" podcasts I watch, but on my wfh days I'll line up my JRE playlist.

Nope. I like the long format and some poor sods commute 2-3hrs a day. I know I used to.

Nowadays I'll listen to it in parts. Doing the dishes/washing the car/house work/out for a walk. Must admit I'm listening to far less JRE than I used to though.

I really struggle to work and listen to anything in-depth, which is a shame as it would be nice to be able to double up.

Yep, this is how I see it too. Rogan has pushed too many baseless conspiracies to have much credibility. This is a bloke who at one time thought we'd not landed on the moon, FFS...

Long walks in the countryside
Doing chores
Washing the car
Commuting

I somethings don't have enough to listen to, albeit JRE isn't high on my list these days.

There are clips on YouTube if you want a snippet.

Try TikTok, probably more up your alley.

I have never been on TikTok. Is that where people post themselves dancing?

I get the impression your comment was an attempt to be condescending.

He is right, there is absolutely nothing between 5 second tiktoks and 3.5hr rambles.

Spotify does ‘JRE shorts’ that are about 14 mins long, some are shorter some are a bit longer. Think they just condense episodes or topics.

No problem with long episodes - Andrew Huberman and Lex Fridman comparable duration.

I listen to and from work and while I'm doing chores at home (washing the car, cutting the grass etc).
