The Joe Rogan Experience Podcasts
Discussion
Managed to watch 25 mins of the William von Hippel one last night before I had to do life stuff.
Hopefully watch it all tonight. The throwing hypothesis is fascinating.
Got to the bit where William and Joe start to disagree over Sex at Dawn, you can see the psychologist in the professor come out.

yeah he can get a bit 'out there' sometimes but in essence he's an average Joe chatting to interesting folk without a big agenda, which gets my vote. Quite how he got wrapped up in the IDW along with Peterson, the Weinstein bros., Pinker, Shapiro et al - all quite polymath/academics, I'm not so sure but I bet he never saw that happen when he started out!
He's generally pretty good at talking to the guests and opening them up by giving them space to say what they want to say, but more and more these days he seems to be putting more of his own opinions to the fore. Worst example was a while back with Dr. Debra Soh where he barely let her get a word in. That could have been because he seemed to quite fancy her though and was basically trying to impress her. Made for one of his worst podcasts. As for the 'IDW' he's one of the few popular online media sources that doesn't have a huge bias against those that the PC/SJW fringe hate, so he's kind of been taken on board with the cause of freedom of expression.
A few nights ago he was with Brian Cox, a lot of the stuff I'm familiar with [which doesn't imply understanding ] but I was struck by Cox's piece about god vs science and how his attitude has softened with age (as mine) and the nice references to Robert Oppenheimer's Reith lectures and Feynman's comments about open-mindedness etc. Some nice insights.
I watched a chatted with TYson Degrsse last week, he was going on about dimensions, our ability to perceive them and move within them. We interact with a number, he was going on about possible others, with regards to spirits/ghosts/whatever.
It was really interesting to hear someone with his knowledge discuss the possibilities

I'll add that to the watchlist. It was really interesting to hear someone with his knowledge discuss the possibilities
Had many an abstract discussion about how parallel universes overlapping or whatnot being what some call ghosts etc.
Fun stuff to ponder.

Have enjoyed Mike Tyson and Richard Rawlings over the last couple of days
This, become a little addicted to it lately. I love when he gets Joey Diaz on, some of stuff he was talking about like LA/Hollywood gyms was hilarious..Just like the whole Joe Rogan style and the way they move from subject to subject.. I suspect the pre-show antics helps them chill out and loosen up...

I’ve been watching the podcast for several weeks now. I only tend to watch ones where I know who the people are, so that’s only several podcasts. I’ve watched both of Brain Cox’s, Richard Rawlings, Chris Harris, Rutledge Wood, Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, Guy Ritchie, Mel Gibson, Jordan Peterson, Ross Edgley, Derren Brown, Danica Patrick and Dale Earnhardt jr. I’ve also watched Mikhaila Peterson, Matthew Walker and Trevor Valle
#1234 - "David Sinclair, Ph.D., A.O. is a Professor in the Department of Genetics and co-Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Aging at Harvard Medical School. He is best known for his work on understanding why we age and how to slow its effects."
Interesting one for the oldies amongst us - guess his age....

Booked to see Prof Cox next week after listening to this. So, it certainly works as a way to buy tickets for your shows if nothing else.dave_s13 said:

Same here (Glasgow) with my wife and son. She fancies him and got the tickets ages ago - she is not scientifically minded at all, I got her an 'I love Cox' tee-shirt and it took her a few days to figure it out....
