A few nights ago he was with Brian Cox, a lot of the stuff I'm familiar with [which doesn't imply understanding smile] but I was struck by Cox's piece about god vs science and how his attitude has softened with age (as mine) and the nice references to Robert Oppenheimer's Reith lectures and Feynman's comments about open-mindedness etc. Some nice insights.
Booked to see Prof Cox next week after listening to this. So, it certainly works as a way to buy tickets for your shows if nothing else.
If anyone was thinking of going to see the Cox thing, save your money. Nothing new is said, it's pretty boring and costs a feckin fortune.

I’ve got a ticket for October, was £40 plus some ticket broker expenses. I went to a Jordan Peterson event in Birmingham and that was about the same price. I’ll be going to Bill Burr at the NEC in a couple of weeks, that was £44. My uncle got us tickets for Jonathan Pie late this year, he’s £24 and he’s just a Youtuber.

Ticket prices in general are quite a bit for shows these days. I go to one every couple of months or so. Usually have a great time.

Almost finished the Pot Debate [ETA: #1246] podcast. Previously all for legalisation and easy going on the stuff. I still am but the sheer lack of information overall seems insane given how long it’s been a regular use substance in many societies. Hopefully the research gains support and traction. Seems like a genuine issue with young people smoking it, but not a widespread epidemic or anything of that level.

Pretty sure I'll always be pro legalisation, but to put forward an intelligent argument we need to acknowledge the downsides. Cannabis isn't for everyone to say the least, and yes we do need far more research into it across several areas. All the people I know who smoke weed and are okay all have one salient thing in common - they either didn't smoke it when teens or smoked little.

Me too smile

Although mine were £40pp.

Didn't think that was too bad tbh. Cost £145pp for Les Mis tickets!! That really was a bit steep, but I booked late and didn't want crap seats.

Currently half way through the Andrew Yang one, who is a 2020 Democratic Presidential candidate with a particular interest in Universal Basic Income ($1,000 per month for everyone) as a response to robotic automation decimating jobs. Interesting stuff.

£44 of a single ticket? Personally I think that's silly enough! Burr is OK on the podcst, I'd have to be a really huge fan to pay out that much to go see something. Beat the frog night can deliver as many laughs.

Nice! Think I’m about 6th row from the front as we got in early getting the tickets. He’s been hilarious wherever I’ve heard him or podcasts and TV shows so should be great.

I know a few people who use now and also did when young. Some of those that used cannabis when young also abused coke and some liked the old ecstacy too in their late teens and early twenties.

Most are perfectly functional, but I can’t say how much better they might be without that or whether it would’ve had much effect on their lives or whether the drugs were a main cause in the others having difficulties.

I think we're miles back. There didn't seem to be a way to pick seats (that I could see any way), so just refreshed Ticketmaster's site a few times but kept getting similar.

Yeah shows are pretty expensive, but we do a regular thing of it, go for a meal then a show (or vice versa).

Thinking of getting tickets for Bill Bailey in the summer.

£50 per head for Cox last night.

Sat near the front but low down and far right, no pun intended, so the viewing angle for the massive screen was st. The sound was also really echoey. Mated to the fact he just regurgitates everything he's already said over various medium already and it was simply nothing new.

He also seemed to use really ste PowerPoint presentations for some if the bits trying to describe light cones and space time, it was poor. And Robin Ince was just irritating.

My Mrs actually fell asleep! She's a science teacher though and had a wicked cold so felt rough, but was also very bored .

Anyway...£100 tickets, £8 parking £15 fish and chips before going in. £13 fking quid for 2 pints and I feel somewhat aggreived that it was basically st! The money wouldn't have mattered at all if it has been good! And I really really wanted it to be good.

Pissed me right off.

If you've bought tickets....sell them and just read one of his books instead.

Yes, I stopped following him because there was nothing about science, just all left-wing political posts, some of them pretty inane

Yes! I love the 'church of whats happening now' podcasts! I love listening to his stories from his past, whether its robbing people, drugs, his general hustling, stuff from his childhood....... all makes for some very funny stories. I think my favourites are when its just joey and lee talking nonsense
