Redban has subbed in for young Jaime so there are two mega-casts - Maynard thingo from that band (Tool?) and Kanye West. I'm about half way through the Kanye one. I've never listed to his music or know much about him at all except for the negative stuff I've seen in mainstream news but he's quite a fascinating fellow. Some mad ideas and his knowledge about stuff is quite lacking (i.e. the lack of racism in Japan) but the things that he talks about and the references to things he drops into the conversation is quite a thing.

I made it half way through the Kanye podcast...

If you were to compare all the U.S presidential candidates of 2020 in terms of the ability to cohesively answer a question and actually make sense, Trump would not be last in the ranking.

He is (was) an excellent music producer but his head is lost in a world of having too much money and hanging around with too many other million/billionaires who never say no to him.

Rogan doesn’t really pull him up on half the stuff he rambles about, even when it’s nonsense - same with the Elon Musk podcasts, he lets them go down 20 minute rabbit holes of guff and just moves on.

He needs to get David Icke one. That would be trippy.

I thoroughly enjoyed that podcast! This is what I want from the JRE. Pure madness!

The latest Alex Jones one is brilliant. Some excellent content in amongst plenty of babble.

Hes a bit crazy but has far more credit nowadays as plenty of what he has predicted in the past has been proven to be true.

Election night will be a must watch

I've tended to watch/ listen to a few of them with comedians/ musicians, rather than an avid follower I'll more likely just watch if it's someone I'm interested in.

However from what he'd been speaking about in the one with Bill Burr and the details on why he was going with Spotify, keeping control of it etc, I almost wouldn't be too surprised if he's just seeing how far he can push his luck early on, especially with some of the fuss it's kicked up.

If it gets to the point where Spotify don't want to support this show they've paid a massive amount of money to support, is he just back to doing what he was doing anyway with an extra chunk of money in the bank?

It'll definitely be interesting to see how his Spotify relationship plays out... He posted this on Instagram this morning...

laugh That's hilarious. More grist to the AJ mill. I listened to that one last night on youtube, it was a bit all over the place but fun in a leave any credibility at the door kind of way nonetheless. The live election special could be either a gold mine or train wreck, but looking forward to it whichever happens (largely depending on how much is drunk and smoked I imagine).

An entertaining way to spend a rainy day off work.

I’m gonna spend my night googling this “clean coal” that we should be using.

Listened to the whole thing, sounds like a big middle finger up from Joe Rogan to the spotify snowflakes with a mild compromise of "I promise to check every mental thing he says during the show". Fact checks turn up a source for pretty much everything! Not that it's true, but that there is a source, which is good enough for me; if I want more information to make up my own mind I'll read the source.
AJ was clearly getting pretty pissed towards the end.

The masterstroke was the fact checking. Not that the people who screech about Jones and Rogan would even watch the podcast in the first place.

Alex Jones is the walking embodiment of the stopped clock that tells the right time twice a day. He spouts st at such a rate that you can’t keep up and then when 0.01% of it turns out to be true, he uses that to credentialise himself.

I must be in the minority because I turned it off after 15 mins of him spouting ste. Just don’t see the appeal or attraction in listening to some guy rambling on about utter drivel.

Watched some of it on YouTube and switched off after a while. Even Joe looked to be frustrated at points with him going off on ridiculous tangents haha.
But it's his show. No one has to like anyone he puts on it.
Anyone who worries about what guests a comedian puts on his podcast is taking life far too seriously.

Spotify are really promoting Rogan on TV. Can't find the ad online, but it's an interesting approach hehe

Boom!

So has moving to Spotify impacted how anybody here listens to the Rogan podcast?

I find having it in another app to all my other podcasts means I'm less inclined to listen to it, and I've quite a few I could go back to listen to now -- they've backed up on me in recent months.
The fact that the Spotify app is pants for managing and navigating podcasts doesn't help either, of course. It never bothered me when sticking on a music playlist, or just firing on some background music, but it is absolute rubbish at managing podcasts compared to most other podcast apps.

I noticed a 12 minute clip from the Musk episode (1609) appearing in my regular podcast app in recent days. The accompanying text obviously suggested listening to the full podcast on Spotify if you wanted to hear more. That's the first time I'd noticed a clip being released openly to promote the podcast on Spotify. They've continued releasing clips on the YouTube JRE Clips channel to promote the podcast, but this was the first time I noticed an audio only podcast clip being released to promote the show.
