  1. 1691 Yeonmi Park
This one is a real eye opener, North Korean talks about her childhood and escaping, one of the best I've listened to, gets jaw dropping within minuets.

If your having a bad day stick this on and it may give you some perspective.

This was a very good one, not easy listening. Yeonmi was also on Lex Friedman and Jordan Peterson's podcasts recently. Both excellent and worth a listen, although much of the same stories. JPs was quite an emotional one.

There really are some awful places in the world, and like you say, it certainly puts things in perspective.

I think all those currently wanting to "end capitalism" should give this a listen and have a think about what it it they want to achieve...

Caught her on JP myself and would highly recommended; Mrs bought me her book but yet to start.

Despite having spotify as Mrs has premium anyway I've only listened to one or two JREs since he went there. He's very good but spotify is cack and when most of the guests I want to hear "do the circuit" anyway I'm not missing him.

Spotify is disappointing, unless I’ve missed how, there doesn’t seem to be an option to search within jre podcasts.

The old podcast app I had let me select jre only podcasts, then if say I searched aliens, it would bring up every episode that had aliens in the blurb.

This doesn’t seem possible with Spotify, you can only search everything including songs and then it only searches by title not blurb.

I listened to this last night, so there was a bit of sleep drift/return. I wasn’t sure, she is a human rights advocate and activist and it did sound too horrific to be true. I don’t doubt there’s a lot of truth in it, but the NK (and I suppose by extension, China) stories I’ve previously heard didn’t sound quite so absolutely horrific. It’s not like anyone’s got a right of response or contrary experience, and it’s a massive audience, so she could say anything really.

There were a couple of things she said that made me go "hmm", the points about Kim's 12 bottle of wine a day habit and his General's girls on tap were said as fact, although she had no direct experience of this.

Still believe her though, you couldn't make 1/2 of that st up!

Rather like Shin Dong-hyuk and Escape from Camp 14, who later recanted some details but stands by the thrust of the book. I don't know whether it is [completely unnecessary] over-egging of an already very eggy pudding or that ones perceptions of reality are so warped or things were so bad that exaggeration is either innate or internally justifiable.

You could take out 80% of these stories and they'd still be horrific.

If you search “Joe Rogan aliens” in the main search bar it does what you want

A bit of a thread jack but I'm sure this is an exception...

Matt Walker... the sleep scientist who many watched on the JRE a few years ago is back, but this time on Lex Fridman.

It's just under three hours:

Not sure about you guys, but Lex's podcasts have filled the youtube hole JRE left behind.

Listened to just over half of this today, wow.
Absolutely unreal.
I didn't realise that these things happened there, and as she explains that is part of the problem, nobody speaks about it.

The JRE 'casts have now got me listening to Burt Kreischer clips. Have a search on YouTube if you fancy a giggle, particularly "Them Machine".

Yeah she is hilarious, I think this is her second appearance, the first one was great too... maybe 2 years ago?

I've started watching her new sitcom, very funny - she really is being herself in it hehe

For anyone relatively new to JRE, you have to be cautious when it comes to comedians on the show.

Some are brilliant because they are actually funny (Ms Pat, Tim Dillon etc).... and also some of them have interesting/controversial points to add to the conversation be it about science, ufos, politics etc.

Jimmy Doore is a good example with regards to being a comedian and having a strong political insight (he did a jre show recently).

... then you get the Z-listers. It isn't so much that they just aren't funny, rather they just don't add anything to the topics that we all find interesting. For example, if Joe poses questions about AI taking over the human race, they just look at him all brain dead wondering what they're going to eat tonight.

I can only assume Joe has them on to help them out (exposure).

The good news is that the more JRE you digest the quicker you'll detect the ones to avoid.

On that note, now it's time for me to revisit this classic episode... probably the most re-watched podcast episode ever?

aliens, dimensions, dmt.... it has it all smile

Rogan released a video.

He got Covid, and the next day he pumped himself full off every drug he could find and went on vitamin drips too, and by day 3 was better.

Amazing how it’s being spun.

My news and YouTube feed is full of “Joe Rogan gets COVID, has no issues” along side “Joe Rogan gets COVID & PROMOTES HORSE MEDICINE”.

It's pretty despicable the way that the press are wording it - the 'activist' sorts in both journalism and on social media seemed to be really triggered by any mention of Ivermectin, which they insist on calling a Horse De-wormer even though it was given a Nobel award in 2015 for treatment of infectious diseases (in humans) and around 3.7 BILLION doses have been given out (to humans). The way they jump on any official narrative (especially to do with COVID) and go with it is creepy to say the least.

To be fair, Rogan was in very little danger anyway, Aside from his copious use of hallucinogens, he clearly eats well and does plenty of exercise. But I guess it's in his nature to try every drug under the sun if given the chance. The disappointment that he easily coped with it (especially with his use of their much hated 'Horse de-wormer' rolleyes) is palpable - quite a despicable bunch wishing ill on people. Rogan isn't the only one on his show to get the coof - way back early on 'Young' Jamie got it but was barely symptomatic. Incredible - another person to have cheated certain death .... biggrin
