I'm sure this must have been mentioned before but I've just started watching The Lincoln Lawyer who lives in a house with a view over the city and listens to Jazz......much like Bosch and then I see they're by the same writer. Not very imaginative
Bosch and Haller are half-brothers so it's maybe not surprising they have similar tastes.Nimby said:

Good series, though the memories of Afghanistan were a bit odd as Bosch looked a touch old to be in a war zone.
Fair point, in the books it was Vietnam so maybe Iraq would have been a better match to his age although perhaps Afghanistan is more in peoples (Americas?) mindset?V8covin said:

LolOr alternatively: I guess anyone who can afford it would choose to live up in the affluent Hollywood Hills, above LA's infamous smog.
And I guess the royalties are a lot cheaper if the hero plays generic jazz in the background rather than, say Queen or the Beatles.

In the books one of the step brothers house locations was on the other (cheaper) side of the hills looking out over the Valley (Boschs' I think), so while Harrys TV house has moved to the more fashionable LA side (and is easily locatable), I think Mickeys was written on that side of the hills but I can't work out where the TV house is....

View below is from Viewmont Drive
Bosch's hillside house is also in the Michael Mann movie "Heat". It's the home of "Eady", the girlfriend of Robert De Niro's character, Neil McCauley.

Titus Welliver said that it's tricky to get to, as there's a single narrow road that means they can only take one film truck up there at a time. They all love filming up there though. The interior was used for the Bosch pilot episode, but they've used a replica built on a soundstage for subsequent interior filming.

Pretty sure Bosch's Woodrow Wilson Drive house was paid for by a book/TV, written by him or about him - predating the start of the series.
Yes, the story is that Paramount made a movie based on one of Bosch's police cases and he used the money from that to buy the house.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
