EJ was there because he's mates with Evans so I can't see him staying now. If the next series was MLB, Reid and Harris, I'd be fine with that.

Got to say I wouldn't all were ok but think REID and Harris need someone different to add a dynamic and not sure MLB's acting is up to it. Unlike others I will give it ago.

Great news about CE steping down. Just needs MLB, CH and RR as presenters - no one else. Can't see the fuss over Sabine at all, all she seems to add is a bit of screeching and casual racism.

What will be interesting is whether they commission another series. TG has been such a big hit for the BBC becuase it sells so well overseas. We all know UK viewing fogures are down, but how has it been received in international markets? That will be the key determining factor in deciding whether it continues IMO.

Really hope hope it does continue though, with the the three presenters above the next series could be a belter!

I'd be surprised if it was allowed to carry on. Poor audience figures, front man quits and TG USA dropped.

TG was near to death under its old team, and an injection of new faces hasn't achieved much positive.

It should be allowed to die quietly.

Well, though I like Le Blanc, Harris when he is more objective and Rory when he is less frenetic, I still don't see it has any great attraction beyond the photography. I haven't really seen any piece on Top Gear that even faintly criticised the car being tested...that was part of the cynical joy of the 3 Stooges.
The loss of Evans is a gain and I agree about the screeching Sabine.
Just need to bin the rallycross Mini now.

No offence intended but would MLB be happy to carry on with a couple of nobodies and ratings tanking?

I believe Evans may have killed Top Gear.

I've listened to R2 for years and I don't listen because of Chris Evans. Millions want a radio station to listen to in the morning bit the other options are often worse.
1. Many don't listen because of the presenter
2. If Sara Cox did it I doubt ratings would change
3. TG may well be his undoing its made people realise he's just all shout and shallowness

Excellent news that the scruffy, shouting, talentless, egotistical, childish Evans has quit Top Gear.

It can only get better now!

So CE has done what the BBC wouldn't have dared to do. Now they need to take a leaf from his book, and get some balls, look at what actually works (or can be made to work), and get rid of the Irish bloke and Sabine. The former is almost invisible, charmless, uninteresting and out of step with the others. The latter is just unnecessary weight.

Just to add ot my earleir comments, I really think the should have a look at refreshing the format. I think they could take it back more towards a proper car journalism show, reviewing cars that people are actually likely to buy, but do it in a more modern an interesting way.

For example:

The mini cab test - take a new XYZ saloon and one of the presenters spends the day being a mini can driver, with the aforementioned car. Could be done in a way that gives useful feedback on the car, the rear seats aren't very comfy, the boot is too small etc, but done in a way that adds some humour.

The school drop off test - take the latest Mummmymobile and use it to drop the kids off at school. How easy is it to clean spilled coke off the seats? How is the rear visibility when you're trying to park in an impossibly small space while you've got a school bus up your arse?

The mid-life crisis test - ask anyone from PH to drive around a cheap sportscar car for a day and film it...

You get the gist. Seriously though, they need to take the good bits form the current show, drop the rubbish bits (i.e. SIARPC) and add some new ideas for features to evolve the format forwards.

I think their best bet it actually going for relative unknowns in terms of presenters. Let them grow with the show rather than bringing them in and always being 'the bloke off friends'.

Chris Evans - Just didn't quite fit in. Tried too hard.

Matt Le B - Better than expected, but will he be comfortable doing the daft stuff old TG used to do. Too much celebrity baggage?

Chris Harris - I like his stuff, but he needs to calm down. Just needs to be his knowable, enthusiastic self without being hyper, forced personality.

Rory Reid - Better than expected. Seems to have his own style.

Eddie Jordan - No idea what he was bringing to the show.

Sabine - I like her, good driver. But, just doesn't fit onto the UK show. The piece driving down to venice was just awful. Screaming, just randomly laughing at anything. Repeating some rubbish joke about her grandmothers cooking or something.

So if I had to choose 3 to come back - MLB, Harris and Reid.

Sounds exactly like 5th Gear.

Is 5th Gear still undead, or has someone finally laid it to rest?
