Controversial opinion: I enjoyed it.
I did too, for what it was and as a conclusion to how S8 turned out, judged by the lowered standards of S8.

I enjoyed the final season overall. Yes it felt rushed but to be honest if it continued with a the complexity of the first four seasons it would have taken countless seasons go wrap it up.

Overall the first four or five seasons were the best I thought, they dialled back the tension and intrigue too much and definitely turned down the sex, violence and sexual violence in an attempt to sanitise it. The producers say they didn't, but they clearly did and lost some of the the authors historical realism.

Tyrion and Jamie Lannister were the best characters and amongst the best actors. I never found Kit Harrington to be particularly convincing or charismatic, he was the weakest of the main cast. Ser Davos had a perfect Northumberland accent, I couldn't believe it when I found out the actor was Irish!

Same.

Really enjoyed the whole season.

I've loved the whole show, but I think people forget how slowly things moved at the start - I actually enjoyed the fast pace of this season, especially given the context.

The faster pace made sense given that everyone was finally in the same location. It's easy to show a bit here, a bit there when you're cutting between 5 different story lines, but once they've all merged and are working towards a final narrative, it would be too much to focus on what's going on.

I look forward to leaving it a while and watching the whole thing again from a fresh perspective.

This is true.

I suspect a blanket deleting of anything in spoiler tags, GetCarter. Possibly by someone who doesn't watch the show and therefore can't tell whether it was a genuine spoiler or not.

(This is conjecture on my part, btw)

Or by a MOD that does watch the show but hasn't seen the episode yet, therefore doesn't want to see the content of the spoiler either!

Or more likely by someone so young that they don't get the joke "The Butler did it"

My wife and I both got up at 6am this morning to watch it as we decided it was not worth trying to avoid spoilers all day for this, the final episode.

I'm glad we did.

Well that was about as nicely wrapped up as one could expect - overall I enjoyed this season. No it wasn't as great as previous, but it was still head and shoulders above virtually anything else.

As an aside I did realise that Jamie was an orangutan. hehe

My problem is entirely with the rushed nature of the season.

There is a particular point in the last episode where one had to extrapolate a huge amount of story based on what was happening now and what had just happened. In previous seasons, they'd have dedicated at least one whole episode to exploring that story alone, probably more!
