I wonder who got cold feet?

Scenario A - B & W get offered a gig by Netflix, realise the Star Wars franchise has effectively been flushed down the toilet by Kennedy\Disney so jump ship.

Scenario B - Disney realise B &W aren't actually as talented as everyone thought and might not be the one's to save Star Wars so drop them.

Or it could be a mixture of both. Would be interesting to know what went on in the background.

Also the first video with Grace seems to indicate Kennedy is on shaky ground, I really do hope so. She should never be allowed near a major franchise again. She did not get Star Wars AT ALL.
I just watched a vid by den of nerds. As fans, the cool thing is, we get to hear all this stuff now, like we never could ten years ago. SOmething has gone on, with D&D, whether it was their comments at the writers thing they went to, or the fact that GoT bombed.
From every video I've watched, the scuttle is that the only reason KK is still there is because no-one else wants the job, JJ Abrams was offered it apparently. And now Feige is coming in as a 'special adviser.'

Can't help but think that in ten years time, no one will remember D&D at all.

Pure one hit wonders, having squandered the opportunity given to them by GRRM/HBO by rushing the last couple of seasons cause they were fed up spending time in the location they'd picked, and had become victims of believing their own hype.

What are they actually going to be doing for Netflix, details seem a bit vague and who will take up the mantle for the GoT prequels?

That may now be moot. Who wants to watch any more of this after the terrible final season. None in my family couldn't be arsed to watch the final episode, after looking forward to the final season for two years. Like the Star Wars franchise, I wonder just how many millions have been lost due to awful writing.

I think a lot of people would watch a new GoT, just to see if they've managed to recapture the magic but would probably give it a very short leash and if it wasn't up to snuff, it would be dropped very quickly.

I imagine the cancelled project didn't prove very interesting to test audiences, the other one with the Dragons focused on the rise of the Targaryens will be.

Yeah, they perhaps just didn’t have enough meat on the bones of that one to make it interesting.

I’m fairly ambivalent about these prequels. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Bit of a lull in TV at the moment I think, has been for the last couple of years - bunch of series have wrapped up but where is the quality replacing them? Not on Netflix, who I am getting more and more emails from telling me about their next made for TV movie. In fact this is the first time for a long time I am debating the value of my Netflix subscription - I don’t think those things are coincidences.

A fair amount of the Netflix original TV shows are decent.

The Crown is very good and superior to most HBO stuff these days.

We also liked Dark though I wouldn't place that in the same league as The Crown.

The Crown launched 3 years a go though.

I've watched a lot of the Netflix originals stuff but it was probably around 3 years a go they announced they would be moving away from TV and into Movies. The service has got progressively worse for me since then.

With the exception of Amazon's The Boys, HBO deliver my fave programmes; Silicon Valley and Barry. The Watchmen looks like it might be something rather good...Westworld...well, it looked good.

edit
as for the one prequel pilot being ditched, and the other prequel being greenlight with no pilot...I reckon GRR being a producer on the latter has had an effect, HBO don't want another D&D ststorm, and they probably also think the whole whit walker thing is now dead as a dodo, thanks to D&D

yes I was, even after S7, viewing the box-set as a must-buy to binge on every few years, but I bet DVD sales have been hammered. D&D & KK deserve each other for so spectacularly killing their golden geese.

I agree I can't bring myself to watch it again as I think the last couple of series were so disappointing when taking the final programme into account.
I was very surprised when Al Murray on Thronecast said it was just right I thought as he seen a different screening.

I think after the demise of the Night King a really good the final episode could have redeemed the poor final series - but it didn't.

I did recently watch the whole series again - lots of stuff and links to people that I missed the first time around. I did however finish at 'The Long Night' - the episodes after that were rubbish and tarnished the whole thing.

Pretty much my thoughts, the ending brings the rest of the show down and knowing that’s the end shames watching the brilliant early stuff.
