Love Ghibli stuff! Have you seen The Wind Rises?
Yes, really nicely made but wasn't my favourite to be honest. I prefer the whimsical/weird stuff! For all Ghibli fans I can heartily recommend The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness which is a documentary following Miyazaki and his team while they were making Wind Rises. Really good insight into their fairly unique methods

The original two were released in the cinema - Where does the OP live, Norfolk?

That made me The original two were released in the cinema - Where does the OP live, Norfolk?

In fairness to the OP, which I didn't realise when I originally posted, he lives in the US, where the situation is rather different. In the UK a general release does tend to mean (even on a small release) that the coverage is good and just about anyone can see the film. In the US I think a general release could be in as many or less cinemas than it would get in the UK! Depending on the push it gets from the distributor.
The UK has a handful of national chains.
