';m amazed that anybody would think Alistair , or Rory. come to that, are some sorts of beacons of impartiality. Of course they're not, and that is what makes the podcast so much fun to listen to . I find myself agreeing with AC some of the time, and Rory rather more so. Bu it doesn't matter - agreeing with somebody isn't a precondition to enjoying it. We get The Spectator and although the politics is miles to the right of where I am , I enjoy the read , as do many other centre/ lefties I know.
I never thought they were impartial. I just found it less annoying when Rory called Alistair out on some of his more obviously partisan / selective views and memories (albeit from an obvious Tory wet position). I think it kept Alistair a bit more honest in his positions. Rory now doesn't seem to bother and Alistair therefore isn't challenged when making his more outrageous statements - and so makes more of them. That I find annoying.

The high performance podcast is really good, interviewing people at the top of their game and asking how they got there and what their non negotiable sin life are
I can find it a bit...I can't find the right way to describe it? The interviewers just come across a bit wet, it's all very breathy and "ooh mental health, speak out, #metoo!" about everything.

It just feels like they're a bit disappointed if a guest hasn't had "a mental health crisis" "learned to grow" from that.

I've slated it before as the high performance podcast for chavs but "Anything Goes" with James English is getting more and more listens fro me. James actually comes across more of the type of guy I'd enjoy a chat with than the high performance lot which might say more about me than them!

His one last week about The Tiger King's lawyer was two hours of great chat.

I find it hit or miss. Some of the guests (like Button) who I'd expect to enjoy strike me as v.uninteresting, where others I've never even heard of are brilliant.

Sabrina Cohen-Hatton's was an amazing story, and I liked Ian McGeechan's, too.

My main annoyance is the interviewers tbh. Trying to fit people into the format or often just talking too much.

I listened to a lot of the Huberman Lab and feel the quality dropped now that he's ran out of his specialism. Again, he seems to use 70 words when three would do.

However his interview with Anna Lembke on addictions was excellent.

Managed to listen to all six of the Crossbow podcast today, that outcome is so odd......a guy gets murdered and convicted but there is no motive for the killing. Same guy pre-murder has been swindled out of 200k and the swindler has nothing to do with the murder????

The Beyond The Grid podcast with Adrian Newey was an excellent listen . He is a fascinating man - quietly spoken but ferociously competitive still . I did sense he is worn out though - hardly surprising given that he's been in F 1 since before I got my first grey hair .

I dare say it will trigger the Senna conspiracy theorists into another bout of paranoia and speculation , but I guess that is a cross we must bear...

Jake Humphreys, just like Steven Bartlett is a charlatan with a chip on his shoulder. He's the definition of a guy in the right place and time, and now he thinks he's some guru.

Maybe, I don't know him well enough but I know the F1 coverage was worse off without him.

Eventful Lives with Dodge Woodall. Really enjoying listening to his guests, his podcast is like a far more agreeable James English.

The Jonathan Pie series on BBC Sounds is great.
I find him a whining and unfunny bell-end...
I once fell snapping my leg in three places.

That was funnier.
On Youtube I might agree but thought the Podcast was good, worth a try if you haven't.

This is very good. Marcus Redwood was a brilliant interview.

The Cows Are Mad. Casting a “post truth” (eurgh) look at the BSE Scandal that rocked the U.K.

Quite good, some interesting science pods are available if you find it interesting.

About a British cult called lighthouse. 8 30 min episodes https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0fcky7w?partner...

Dead stuff - about serial killers. This is very new and have only done a couple of episodes link is to their instagram where they post stuff. Podcasts available on Spotify and apple https://instagram.com/deadstuff?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
There's really good stuff on the BBC. I really enjoyed;

A Very British Cult
The Lazurus Heist
Frontlines of Journalism
Death by Conspiracy
Putin
The Coming Storm

Am now onto Real Dictators. I raced through Pol Pot last week, now onto some fascinating stuff about Napoleon.

The Great Post Office Trial has resumed, focusing on the Horizon software.

Also Death of a Codebreaker, just 2 episodes so far, investigating the body in the bag mystery.

Nick Wallis is a hero keeping this in the news, I definitely recommend signing up for his newsletter, and/or buying his book

Yeah this is good. I'm 34 so just old enough to remember BSE being a thing, but I wasn't aware of all the details and how the story developed.

Try this(

Very much science based but fun with it. It’s a subject close to my heart, a school friend died from vCJD.

I know it's a bit low-brow for some of the PH collective, but I've had some great laughs listening to the Help I Sexted My Boss Podcast on Spotify.
It's Jordan North from Radio 1 (I didn't listen for ages because I can't stand R1), and William, an incredibly posh, camp etiquette expert.
Very funny and informative, easy listening for a long drive.

Short History Of... would be another recommendation. John Hopkins narrates approx 1 hour episodes about events or people in history. The Gunpowder Plot, Charles Dickens, the space race, even the battle of Britain. It's not an in-depth history but they get the key details in to a one hour pod.

Race to the Future.

Millionaires drive stripped out, state off the art cars with double digit horsepower engines, 9,300 miles in a no rules race to win a Magnum of Champagne.

The story of the Peking to Paris race in 1907 over 5 episodes is fascinating.

Bonus : the theme music is Roger Taylors 'I'm in Love With My Car' which always makes me smile after seeing Bohemian Rhapsody. smile
