I quite like it.

It doesn't have the up-front "look at me" vocal style of Adele or Sam Smith, to the extent that she basically just whispers the first minute or so. There's not a massive climax though, and it does slightly fizzle out. I think it'll benefit from getting played loud, so people can hear what shes mumbling.

Much better than any other 007 tune since maybe The World Is Not Enough, as the earlier Dan Craig tunes were a bit forgettable, and lets not mention Madonna

Chris Cornell’s “You know my name” has really grown on me, in fact the song and title sequence combo is now one of my absolute favourites.

pfft, slow, weak, breathless warbling. Better than the drivel Sam Smith gave us but that's it.

Bumped into a friend last night. He's a session musician, who's played on several if the Bond films.

He told me he'd been in the studio all day, recording music for the latest film.

He said the rumour going around the studio was that Bond dies!!!!

And then the 007 code name is handed to someone else in MI6. I can imagine how that’ll end.

Jesus that is ste. Sounds like she is hung over, mumbling and slurring the lyrics. Hope the film is a lot better.

Sounds like a mogadon ridden version of Skyfall.

It's been mentioned, spoilered if you will, in the media multiple times.

Agreed. Stylish, but a bit shouty.
Just like a Bond song should be.
The Eillish effort is only of value as a funereal dirge heralding the end of Craig’s design as 007.

Given the way the M title has been passed on, thus acknowledging the fact there’s a new face in the role as opposed to a new actor simply playing the same character, I see it as highly possible.
DC has been much more involved in executive production of his Bonds than any of his predecessors were so maybe the idea is that the Craig version of Bond does indeed die when he hands back the license.
In the next Bond, could there be a scene where M is briefing the new 007, glances down at a file in his desk, bearing Craig’s photo, rubber-stamped “Deceased” and comments something like “Oh and 007...don’t make the same mistake your predecessor did”?

Spot on!

Dreadful as a Bond theme, in fact dreadful in any context; dishwater music.

IMO Sheena Easton's 'For your eyes only' can't be beaten.

Didnt Danny Boyle walk away because he wanted to kill Bond off but Craig and Broccoli weren't keen on the idea? Or was that just another rumour.

I think certainly Bond has retired and 007 has been given to someone else, possibly the lady. I dont think they will kill Bond because that will confuse dumbass Americans when they re boot with another actor.

It's not bad, it's just... dull..

I guess it fits in with the more serious, moody Craig 007 but I do miss some of the older tracks, GoldenEye for example (still my favourite film..)

I realise that the Bond film 'style' had to change over the years, I'm from the early Sean Connery era, they're what I first saw at the cinema so naturally they are the ones that have stayed with me.

But the one I like the best is OHMSS. Slated at the time but I've always enjoyed it, and thought Lazenby did an excellent job in the role. It also had the best Bond girl and the best Bond car and the song second only to the one from You Only Live Twice. The stunts looked very real and the whole film has a sort of closeness and realness that seems to me lacking in the later films.

Take away the moronic dubbing, and OHMSS is probably the most realistic Bond? Alongside Tim's two efforts. I really like it.

This was apparently the case. Boyle wanted him dead, Broccoli/Craig not so keen.

I can see an ambiguous ending (similar to Spectre actually) where he drives off at the end in a will-he-won't-he leave kind of way.

They have to cover off the (slim) possibility that Craig will either stay on or need to be brought back.

I heard the Billy Eyelash theme this morning, and thought it was quite good.... until it ended, and then I thought it wasn't so good. I was waiting for the big crescendo to full orchestra bit with lots of goosebumps and sense of drama and excitement and peril.... and then it was over, like she just got up and walked away at the vinegar strokes.

It's moody and competent and entirely typical. She's no Bassey or Adele, but the breathy whispering suits the Craig era. I had no problems visualising swirly gun smoke and naked lady silhouettes shooting out of PPKs in the opening credits. But it lacks punch.

I guess if they can mix it into the film opening with the main "dun dudda dun dun" theme and a few bangs and explosions, it just might work. I won't be staying to see the end credits though.

It's musical cauliflower. Broccoli, but with all the colour removed. As long as they dish it up with a good cheese sauce, it'll be fine.

5/10

Listened to it a few times and currently listening to it as I type.

I quite like it as a song, but don't feel it's really a Bond theme. It starts to go full Bond, but never seems to quite get there. I think it's a production decision rather than the fault of BE.

Another vote here for OHMSS too. The best JB film in terms of plot, action, characters and soundtrack.
