I managed to watch NTTD last night for the first time.

For me it was the poorest of the DC films and pretty forgettable. The only thing of note was the apparent finality of the end.

If the next Bond film shows that he survived that missile strike, then all credibility is lost. If he survives that missile strike then no matter what danger Bond faces in the future you will know that he is at no risk, thereby removing any tension the viewer should have.

I think they just have to ignore it like it never happened. The next one happens in whatever timeline it does and doesn't have to bare any relationship to the previous.

That's what they've always done. Next Bond, timeliness resets. Even without a full reboot from the start like they did with Craig, just carry on.

I agree though if they open with Craig climbing out of the rubble then it's game over.

I would imagine the next Bond will follow a new direction , and not be related to the Craig era , If they are smart it wont follow or mention the old story lines we know Q is being replaced

However, they might think a diversion to taking a more well known name will continue to grow the franchise outside the UK.
Jacky Wu then:

I would think he told them he had something lined up that may interfere with his availablity so they agreed to part ways.
You cant normally be 2 things as the kids and grown men cant understand.
He was really good in the man from uncle.

The Man from Uncle was (pretty much) the perfect Bond audition for him. But, for me, whilst absolutely looking like a Bond should look, he's just lacking "something" somehow. Then again, I was pleasantly, and very happily, wrong about Craig, so I've been very wrong before on this very subject biggrin

Next film opens with 007 in the shower…..

HC will be a superb Bond, MfU showed that quite easily. 41 now gives him up to 9 yrs for a run, so 3-4 films. Certainly none of this 4-5yrs between film stuff.

Yep, aside from Lazenby's "this never happened to the other fella", I've always taken it as read that there's no continuity between different actors playing Bond.

For the same reason, having the gadgety DB5 in the Craig movies always felt like a really poor decision by the writers and producers. There were more flaws with that than there were with the daft Aston Van(qu)ish and yet they kept resurrecting the bloody thing banghead Whatever else they do, if there's one thing I want from future Bond movies it's to never, ever see a DB5 in them.

HC would make a great bond. He has the look, stance and will suit the role.

Let's rewind 15 odd years with DC. Watching Layer cake, which is the only film where he was half decent, you would of never thought he would be Bond.

Any of these actors, once the Bond team adjust, update, and build a story round them soon start to look / act like a bond and you soon start believing.

However, I see the issue more about where Bond, the character, will go now. All the old original scripts / books are done and good knows why Bond had to have a child / died ( which he no doubt hasnt). DC mentioned Bond dying as one of his own requirements when agreeing to do the last few films, why ? Does he feel that he wanted to be the last bond ? Doesnt make sense as they now have to do some form of Dallas showering scene. I also dont see Bond as a woman, and I dont care if I come across sexist. Those who are pushing for it probably wont like the agression or voilence either so why cater for them.

I wasnt a fan of DC and his films, some were good, but none are rewatchable time and time again, like the old Sean / Roger movies. Now he has left the JB role lets see how well he does as I dont rate him.

He’s too big and too strong to be James Bond.
I’m sure they want someone younger in their 20’s.

I did see somewhere they were going to make the next James Bond female? In which case it would rule out HC.

Have you been in a coma for the last two years, not seen NTTD or not bothered to read the thread? smile

007 was female in the last film. Barbara Brocolli has stated quite clearly James Bond is a male character and always will be.

He's being paid $100,000,000 by Netflix for two Knives Out sequels, so I don't think he really cares.
