Just finished watching The Gentlemen on Netflix (thoroughly recommended) and thought to myself that Theo James, who played the lead role, might have made a good Bond.

No idea on the accuracy of this notion but I'm here spreading the rumour further. thumbup
The Internet has reported a lot of things recently about Bond, all of which has been Sloblock but let's see.

I don't even know who Aaron Taylor Johnson is. Am I out of touch?
He was the lead in Kickass.
Was in a Marvel Avengers film. And a big Christopher Nolan film. Seems to have the acting skill to become the character, rather than play a version of himself.
I would say he just the right level of experience and fame, but not yet a Hollywood superstar. That seems about right when casting bond.
Yep agree, generally known of but not massive, which seems typical when casting a new Bond, he was also in the fantastic Bullet Train.
I've got a lot of time for this idea.
He was decent in Godzilla, Nocturnal Animlas and Savages.
Certainly not type cast or one dimensional.

I'm a big advocate for Henry Cavill, but I can see how he might be a bit 'obvious' for the role.

There needs to be an element of

"Oh, I hadn't thought of him"

Or even some scepticism - A bit like we had with Daniel Craig.

ATJ is the right age and seems to have the range. As ever, story will be key.

Henry Cavill would have been a great choice in 2005, when he nearly got the role. But his moment has passed.

I'd still like to see a story that starts with Bond as a young naval officer, getting into trouble, then attracting the attention of M. Not yet a Double-O, but single out for a big future.

I recognise him now from the Avengers movie. Apparently he was in Tenet which I love and I can't picture him in that at all. Which I think is good as I didn't immediately think oh the bloke from the Avengers. Must have some range.

Not against the idea really now I know who he is

I agree on both points.

He was the soldier who led one of the teams at the end, Ives (he was in it a fair bit before obviously).Played almost a live action version of Soap from MW.

ATJ has been a popular fan cast for a long time, he's playing the lead in the upcoming Kraven film also. He certainly has the action chops as well as decent comic timing. I'll believe it when it's announced but he's a good actor and would be a solid choice.

Playing the lead in one of Sony's Spider-Man villain spin-off films? That'll probably kill his career stone dead.

Which is more than likely why he's now open to another franchise given the issues with the Kraven release and the state of Madame Web!

Henry Cavill is far too good looking and buff, his acting is a tad wooden too.

The only 'actor' to play Bond is Timothy Dalton.

A bit wooden should be fine.biggrin

ATJ wouldn’t have immediately sprung to mind as a potential Bond, but I can see how he could work. He was brilliant in Bullet Train and has a good mix of swagger, menace and comic timing.

Solid choice I think.

I didn't recognise the name at first, but then realised he was in Bullet Train and was excellent. Looking forward to him taking the role if the rumours are true.

Not complaining, good casting if true.
