The trivia I didn't know until I read the IMDB link is his daughter was in "Toto Coelo" who did "I Eat Cannibals". I do remember them wearing dresses made from bin bags on Top of the Pops.
Hence the joke: why do Toto Coelo wear bin bags? Because they're rubbish.

After finishing the gentleman Netflix series I reckon Theo James who played ‘the duke’ wouldn’t be a bad shout for playing the next bond tbh
He’s a top lad; hilarious and annoyingly good-looking.

He was best man at a wedding my wife and I attended in 2022 and did the groom proud.

I hope he gets it (if he wants it).

Another vote for Theo James for the tux (assuming there is going to be more 'traditional' Bond, which I seriously doubt right now).

Both my wife and I thought he would be a shoe-in for Bond. We had not realised his name was in the frame.

Much better than most of the other names that have been thrown into the ring.

I happened across a compilation of best Bond scenes on YouTube. While Moore is remembered for the silliness and humour some of the films do hark back to the cold hearted bdness of the books.

The Spy Who Loved Me in Egypt where he is questioning someone and he grabs hold of Bonds tie to stop from falling and Bond just swats it away. Them in for Your Eyes Only when he shoots at the car racing towards him and it ends up perched on a cliff edge. Bond shows him a brooch of some sort and then kicks the car off the cliff.

Feel like that sort of stuff has been forgotten and Moore remembered just as a buffoon. I've even been guilty of it.

Moore was not happy with that scene in FYEO. I think he preferred to dilute the violence with a raised eyebrow or pithy one-liner. For example in Egypt the guy holding onto his tie gives up the info before being dropped to his death, then the moment is defused with the line “what a helpful chap”.

I've been following that site for over 20 years and in that time they have never put a foot wrong with regards to Bond news. If it ain't on there then it ain't happening.

BBC sources deny Aaron Taylor-Johnson rumours.
Just been looking at that site. Like most others, they STILL get somehting wrong.

There was never a Rolls Royce Phantom 337. There was, however a 1937 Phantom 3. Which is what Goldfinger drives, and Bond says "Phantom 3, '37" but everyone blindly writes this as a Phantom 337.

Its a big mistake. Almost as bad as listening to the Beatles withou earmuffs...

I could never understand why Bond slagged off the Beatles yet was happy to listen to Sid James wife in Bless this House singing underneath the mango tree in Miss Taro's house up min the hills in jamaica

The scene in The Man with the Golden Gun where he’s questioning Maud Adams and threatening to break her arm still raises the (one) eyebrow for me.
That’s not Moore being a buffoon, that’s Moore being Bond…..

Too good looking and far too ripped to be James Bond.

Which is what makes some JB films crap. If I wanted humour I'd watch Austin Powers.

I want a good film on the same level as Bourne or MI Rogue Nation. The last decent film (for me) was QoS. Not a classic, but solid and decent soundtrack and cinematography.

SF first half was good but rubbish second half. SP first 30 mins was good but final 75% was silly and I can't even remember the name of the last film it was that bad (and I can name every Bond film since Dr No).

Yay!

I knew history would be kind to QoS. A tight action film with a very prescient storyline ie. supposedly benevolent not-for-profit organisation actually a tool for a megalomaniac to manipulate national governments by having their highest representatives 'on board' (think WEF/Klaus Schwab).

The fact that it was filmed during a writer's strike turned what should have been its biggest weakness into its biggest strength with a short runtime forced by the script having to be completed by a tight deadline before the strike kicked. No rewrites or further tampering, and the director being left to do his job.

Subsequent Bonds suffered from too-many-cooks syndrome, with 1-too-many action scenes and too much second unit work leading to sprawling run times. Even Casino Royale is, in retrospect, about half an hour longer than it needs to be.

I think that’s what you’d get if you asked A.I. for an amalgam of Blofeld, Dr No, Goldfinger and Karl Stromberg.
