Why not?
It’s about the most sensible idea (and that’s not saying much) in the history of the franchise.
Yeah, I like it. It'd be a great way of taking it forward....if Bond survives this next film....

Personally, I believe that the history is that it is intended to be one man who was born as James Bond, went into the Navy, then became a secret agent as 007 and went on some missions. As per Ian Fleming's books.

The film series, much like any film series, has kept up with the times by keeping the films sends in somewhat of a "modern" era just to keep them popular, and replacing the actors as they get a bit older. There's some continuity between them, sometimes its part of the story, sometimes its a bit of fun, sometimes it is shoe-horned in clumsily.
It's much like the Biggles books. He somehow managed to fight in WW1 in his trusty Sopwith Camel, in WW2, and then become a detective post-WW2. The fact that he would be geriatric by then was always glossed over and he was always young and dynamic.

It's just part of the suspension of disbelief, I guess.

Still, the "James Bond as a code name" theory does hold water and is amusing to consider, but clearly the canon is that it's the same character throughout.

All of Flemings books were chronological with references to the previous in the following.
Some of this leaked into films where it makes no sense. In Dr. No at the start M takes his beretta away and said it jammed on you last year and you spent weeks in hospital. That was referencing From Russia With Love the book when he fights Kleb and gets sticked with the poisoned shoe knife. Which he then does in film later on.

Blofeld is a codename not a person. biggrin

.
No smile required. Ernst Stavro Blofeld is a fictionalised but real person. Head of SPECTRE with a full backstory in Thunderball, chapter five pages 47 / 51.biggrin:

Edit to say: Named after cricket commentator Henry Blofeld's father.

Looks good indeed.

Noticed a few Easter eggs / nods to Craig's films. Trapped under the Ice (Skyfall), Getting an Aston out of a lock up (Skyfall), Floating Lights on a River (Skyfall). Sure there will be some more.

I very much enjoyed that. Lots to enjoy.

I wonder if Amazon sells those headlights to fit my car.

Err. st. Thought I saw more. Oh motorbike chase through somewhere dusty. No that's Skyfall also. Jumping from the bridge, oh Skyfall again.

I'll have to watch it again, I'm sure there was a CR call back

Trailer at least explains inclusion of 3 different Astons in the film.

Is the Vantage the one that Timothy Dalton’s Bond won in a poker game against Sean Connery’s Bond but was converted by old Q in to a DB5 which new Q used as the inspiration for the DB11 in a reboot of the franchise set before Bond (the Sean Connery one) had been superseded by the George Lazenby one who also had an Aston but not one of these Astons?
