I quite enjoyed that scene where it started with "I might say "day" and you might say ..." "wasted". That set the tone and the Skyfall prod was intended to illicit a negative response, which it got.
Ok.....but why? Why specifically “Skyfall” to get the negative reaction? It implied there was a massive skeleton in the closet and there just wasn’t.
I recall watching it and interpreting is as Skyfall being his childhood home where he spent time with his parents before they died.

It implied aswell that around the time of their death, he was there - possibly under the care of Kincaid.

It therefore held bad memories of bereavement, etc.

It was also a pretty isolated and desolate place - it was implied he didn't enjoy it there anyway and M gave the line
"Christ, no wonder you never came back"

Hang on, you think this would be amazing, but Rami Malek being Dr No is too meta and trying to hard? What?
SC coming in and saying that line, is a bit of a nod to the Bond as a code theory, or affirmation or confirmation whatever you like really if that's only how it's referenced, so people can debate it endlessly on the web. It'd reverse some of the decisions that the Craig bond era has chosen. But a new version of Dr No doesn't affect who Bond is but does require nostaliavision, Craig is still the 'real' Bond yet we have writers reaching back to an old Bond villain that relies on nostalgia for the Bondophile (like all the stuff from SKyfall, 'I never told you my name, it's moneypenny' bks, it makes no sense unless you know Bond).
That's my reasoning for liking the Bondcode idea, but not keeping BOnd as-is in the Craig era yet dipping back to old BOnd films. It's like they don't quite know who to aim for, I know a successful film requires a broad bas as an audience, but..well I'll stop now incase this film is good. It still might be.

With regards to the music, I just want to know if David Arnold has had the call yet to do the soundtrack.
I think he’s moved on.
Skyfall and Spectre were the work of Thomas Newman.
...who came as part of a package with Sam Mendes.

Newman won't be scoring this one so the obvious choice is to bring back Arnold who was 'instrumental' in making Casino Royale as good as it was IMO. Newman is distinctive (if turgid), but Arnold manages to weave themes and cues more skilfully and was the natural successor to Barry.

If not Arnold, then Hans Zimmer please!

It's a chap called Dan Romer composing the score; he worked with Fukunaga on the series Maniac, and also did the computer game Far Cry 5

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Romer

edit to add - this just popped up in my Youtube feed: some footage from October of the crew rehearsing and filming the motorcycle jump from the trailer

Well if it's going to be a depressing end for James Bond I'll go with Lewis Capaldi, he can suck the energy out of a room like no one I've seen before.
Jesus christ nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo don't say that. I will boycott the film if that scott ttt is singing. I could hardly watch Spectre listening to they /them Sam Smith
Must admit Capaldi crossed my mind as being a bit fresh but not too mainstream.
But I agree with the Nooooooooo.
Maybe another female warbler?
Shirley Bassey did three Bongs so possibly bring Adele in again?
Rumours on the web are Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi and Dua Lipa are among the favourites to provide the theme song, with Stormzy, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, Ellie Goulding, Harry Styles and James Arthur also rumoured.

All sound st to me to be honest. Oh and Liam Gallagher thinks he could do a good one as well.

Following the trend of the Booker and Turner prizes I expect they will all do it together.

Based on nothing but brainfarts (with the possible exception of Dua Lipa, who Damiel Craig suggested - allegedly).

Now that I know who is doing the score I'm putting up a credible outlier - Shawn Mendes. Worked with Dan Romer before and is co-writer/performer of the most streamed song on the planet this year.

Case closed m'lud.

Yes, it would be exactly the same little nod and a wink (to a blind bat) as George Lazenby saying "This never happened to the other guy". I nice little throwaway line - a tip of the hat if you will - and not meant to be taken as canon but a bit of fun.

It could easily be done with a Stan Lee style cameo. I think it would be awesome.

THE CHARACTER is grumpy! And Scowly!

laugh

At the beginning driving in the car. Angry with the bird
Standing on the bridge. Looking pissed off
Looking out over the ocean. Looking pissed off!

Chatting to Freddie Mercury. Again, angsty. "men who play god" line.

No smart arse comment. Less humour, more aggy biggrin

Just like the books. Bond was never the happiest of people, his job being far too important and serious for mere humour.
No smart arse comment? No humour? PH exists for such things.

I'm guessing the agro is because he was happily retired in Jamacia with his pretty young wife and is pulled out of retirement to go clean up someones mess.

It's enough to give anyone the arse ache.

He looks happy enough to see Q though.

Madeline Swan. He leaves with her at the end of Spectre. In the trailer Blofeld says to him you gave up everything for her.

Assumed he retired and settled down with her.
