oh god, what a pointless a boring load of rubbish.

Really can't see why that level of gore was needed. Added nothing to the plot or the characters. Just pointless, mindless st that belongs in B movies and horror movies from the 90s that everyone has forgotten.
I have no issue watching mindless gore, but I expected more from this series. This will have switched off a huge amount of the fan base. younger viewers, people who have not frequented horrific websites etc will not have seen anything like this before. It should not be expected in such a huge and popular series

The plot barely moved a centimeter. It just made the characters look stupid and annoying.
really what were they thinking?

Think this s the worst and most ridiculously crap episode I have seen of the entire series. It makes the governor look like shaft.

Strip away the gore and the blood, the excess violence... this is a series meant to portray society now at it's worst. Survival at all costs, survival of the fittest or most ruthless, humanity completely broken.

The blood and gore serve only to amplify the sensation of just how bleak society has become.

Have you not watched a lot of this series before or something?

It was amazing! One of the best episodes they've ever done. I thought one of Abe and Glenn would get it, surprised it was both!

Woah! Brutal and gut wrenching!

I think if you take the last episode of season 6 and the first episode of season 7 together they attempt to show a transition in 'our' group to a broken one. They are demoralised and bereft.. The Walkers are no longer the enemy and Ricks' group are only just starting to realise that. I thought it was a good season opening episode.

O/T The actor who plays Negan reminds me of one of the actors who was in Everyone Loves Raymond, but they aren't one and the same..

In defence of the earlier post, as an episode of a TV show, it's construct was all over the place and the plot virtually non-existent. But as a performance piece illustrating the breakdown of humanity, law and frontiers it succeeded with aplomb.

I felt a great sense of claustrophobia, (despite them being in a large clearing in the woods), Andrew Lincoln was top notch, saying more with his eyes than words, the loss of control and the shocking nature of the deaths served to heighten the realisation that it is indeed humans, rather than zombies that are the true horror.

That was incredible. Can't think I've ever seen more impactful drama.

I thought it was a great episode. I found it really harrowing to watch but I was sucked in and going on the emotional journey with Rick and the group.
At the end of all the trauma when they were just left in the clearing my instant thought was just to run away and go as far as possible in the other direction because it can't be worse than this.

I really dislike negan!. It'll take a few seasons, but Rick will make him regret the decisions he made that night.

Glenn was grim. Really, really grim. That was real gore. That eye! Phew. Traumatising.

For me, the show would have properly gone to Level 11: Captain Insane-o if they had gone through with Rick chopping Coral's arm off. That would have been proper fking psycho mental oh my god did they just do that nuts.

The drama of that scene totally blew my st I have to admit, because my mind was just racing with like, NOOO fkING WAY, THEY AREN'T, ARE THEY?!?!

I actually thought it was a bit of a cop out that they didn't in the end, after building up the scene.

Edit Footnote: Gutted to see the back of Abe, really liked his character.

Strange that they have cut out Glenn's last words to Maggie in the UK version tonight.
