I think the reviews of this film have been pretty bang on really.

If you enjoyed the first one, this is more of the same. I think it suffered from being less focused than the first film, which had an antagonist with a clear objective that was established very early on, who was dealt with in a relatively restrained way bearing in mind this is a Marvel superhero film. This film is just bonkers by comparison.

That being said if you go into a Marvel film expecting anything other than a tried and tested "heroes are introduced, heroes have problems, heroes prevail" arc formula - and moaning about it - then you're probably not much fun to be around at parties.

I was smiling from start to finish, so it was money well spent.

I saw it at the weekend.

It certainly a good family film (my wife and kids enjoyed it more than I did) , The there is more humor than the first one, and Drax has some very funny lines.

I'm nota fan of Baby Groot though as it made it more like a Disney film at times. That said my 15 year old daughter absolutely loved him.

Marvel seem to be particularly good at turning comics aimed at 12 year old boys into films with universal appeal. The list of films my family want to see this year is almost exclusively Marvel.

Yeah Marvel have the Midas touch when it comes to these films. Poor DC try very hard to emulate them but don't really seem to have any identity of their own.

Marvel have done really well to capture and nail down a broad target audience. People know what to expect now, Marvel know what to make and haven't really dropped the ball (yet, at least). It will get repetitive eventually, but they have enough momentum and different IP to keep it relatively fresh within the overall infinity stones story arc they are doing.

Unless DC go down a different route I'm not sure what they hope to achieve beyond saturation. Marvel stole a march on them, with great surprises like the original Guardians, and anything DC do now will be judged in comparison. There are only so many movies of this ilk most people will want to see, and Marvel are catering for that well already.

Watched it yesterday and agree with all the comments really. Bit disjointed with no real purpose, but highly enjoyable all the way through.

Surprisingly dusty in the cinema at the end too! (Damn you, Cat Stevens)

SO many really funny lines and great music as before, the slight lack of story didn't matter at all.

I'd worry about anyone who could possibly think that taking a 5 year old to see something like Guardians was remotely appropriate or even worthwhile. Bizarre.
But putting thought into whether or not you should take a child to the film in case it's not appropriate would require effort and, you know, parenting skills.

I think a lot of people these days just go to see whatever they want and assume it's OK to bring a young child along, as long as the certificate doesn't actually preclude them from bringing the child into the cinema. Way too much hassle to arrange a babysitter and go themselves. They don't seem to have any concept that something might not be suitable for a young child to watch.
He is a fan of rocket raccoon and baby groot as well as the cartoon version . The trailer where rocket explains about the button to baby groot is what interested him.

I wasn't sure whether the violence in the film or too much bad language etc made it a 12a i.e. Not ok for a five year old, or merely a bit of side boob which wouldn't bother me.

I watched this last night and thought it was fantastic.

Mantis asking Drax whether she could "pet" Rocket and then Rocket's reaction to her doing so was my favourite bit - I was laughing out loud, along with the majority of the other people watching.

Loved it. It can't live up to the opening fight scene (which is just brilliantly done, best cinema moment I've had for a while, works so so well on a huge screen) but it hits the spot so many times it's easy to forgive the slightly baggy nature of it.

How the hell they're going to fit these guys and the Avengers into a single film blows my mind, can't wait to see how they manage it. Drax and Iron Man could be great fun!

I liked the first one a lot and was worried the second one would not live up to it.

Drax was the star of the film really. I did feel the plot was a bit more complex than the first one and i'm going to need to read up on it.

I did enjoy it and think it may need another viewing. It's still the best marvel film around.

oh...and make sure you stick around for the very end of the credits as there's a few extra scenes in there.

As per you findings above - we decided to watch the original the night before we went to the cinema for the new one only to find it had been removed from all free viewing options...

Well my 5 and 14 year olds both enjoyed it. Nothing particularly unsuitable for a 5 year old at all that I noticed. Certainly no worse than he's exposed to in daily life at school anyway.

Not a big Marvel fan myself but I still found it bearable for the sake of the kids.
