The word legend gets bandied around far too easily these days but is there any other way to describe Attenborough?

Although I was a bit worried for Gordon Buchanan, am sure that leopard was probably only curious but yikes I'd be absolutely bricking it in his shoes!

Dave is now 90 - he's had a st hot innings, but sadly he won't last forever. One of the few things the BBC does well; I have a feeling this is the end of an era...

My wifes' favourite animal is a turtle.

FFS Attenborough, you are still quite nimble for a 90 year old. Couldn't you have bent down and turned a baby turtle or two back towards the sea? She was sobbing all night and I was on a promise, which never happened!

Bloody national institutions spoiling my evening!

P.S - also feel very low that last night was probably the end of an era that has defined most of childhood and adult life going all of the way back to 1979.

No way. Look at his reaction. He's properly on edge despite being a seasoned wildlife cameraman.

Did strike me that an initiative to turn some street lights and signs off that one full moon night per year might help the turtle hatchlings out, bigtime.

If anyone has a smart TV (in my case a new Panasonic) with inbuilt iPlayer, try loading up the App and going to the settings. If you switch to the beta menu there is an option to see some of the PE2 scenes in UHD. It's the leopard scene from the jungle (not city). Breathtaking.

Light pollution is a big problem - and in many cases, much of it can be avoided.

There is a warehouse opposite where I work that has floodlights lighting the loading bays. Fair enough - the lorries have to be able to see where they are going and the workers need to be able to work safely with good visibility.

The thing is though - the floodlights are pointed and angled in such a way that they project their light not only downwards to the area it's needed - but also onto the white roof (thereby reflecting it skyward) and also some of it ~30 degrees from the horizontal skywards........who is this light helping?

With a better design and/or installation directing more light towards where it is needed - they could probably install less bright lights and get the same level of illumination.

Maybe a big neon sign pointing to the sea would have helped them!

Really sad to see the turtle bit. Surely they could have done something locally to deal with the issue.

End of a brilliant series!

Very enjoyable. I have just ordered the BR box set containing this and the original Planet Earth for under £25!

Sorry, I should clarify, I meant the night vision stuff was cool, but I thought the brief (5second or so) part with just the slow-moving leopard looked unnatural! smile

Having said that, if you ever watch cats and I assume the larger cats stalking prey or each other before some potential pawsicuffs you'd be forgiven smile

There is a project that is helping the turtles locally:

Best series I've seen on TV for a very, very long time. Outstanding. Well done BBC.
