If you are an existing customer then they will do it for free as a sky move.

Anyone know anything about the free rent and keep dvd deal? Apparently Sky are sending customers a code for 13.99 to download and keep a film?

I have just got that email and logged in where it said £13,99 has been credited. I haven't chosen the film yet so cant confirm if it actually works

Another shout for Bagga if you are looking to get a better deal. I was paying 71.50 a month for my HD tv only subscription, all packages apart from Sky movies. He's effectively halfed that on a new 12 month sky Q deal - miles better than what the retention folks were offering. All sorted within a couple of hours of sending the first PM. That's a result in my book biggrin

Just put my cancellation request in, although it won't actually cancel till early Feb due to still being in contract.

I'm hoping that over the next few months I'll be sent some offers, would like to get Fibre b-band, Variety bundle and HD for around £30/40.

Let's wait and see!

I don't seem to be able to send PMs but @ b4gga83, are you still able to sort deals out? I have the full TV package, 2 multi rooms and broadband which feels expensive compared to what some are paying!

Result, Sky called me and they have re-activated my old sky account but with full package free for 5 months, just need to remember to cancel it in march. We now have Bagga's sky Q down stairs and the full HD package upstairs for no extra cost...

Q box has now received a firmware update - Q003.001.45.00L (4lvm0pw).

If not already updated, go into Home menu, Settings, System Info, Software Version, Setup and than Software Download.

Rockape, tried mailing you but it keeps bouncing back - apparently the email address you have registered is no longer available?!

Interesting thread. I've got 2 ancient sky boxes, multiview and internet with sky, just trying to do comparisons with BT and other providers before calling to cancel.

Sky cancelled, a few offers made but nothing that updates my very old sky boxes or improves the overall cost without losing some services. The guy on the phone did try to scare me saying if I cancel now I will lose my landline number as it will be disconnected and it will cost and take time to reconnect if I go elsewhere, also said I would not be able to access sky plus recording, but these things are not at issue for me.

If can't get a reasonable deal done to reconnect I'll get all the gardening and decorating done this spring!!

Sky bloke is a Lying bd! I explained our viewing habits had changed and We had TV, Net and Phone with them. When I left the guy couldnt be more helpful stating all I needed to do was instruct the new phone company I was using them, and give 2 weeks notice for the internet cancellation. TV went on till the end of the calendar month.

I quit Sky back in November, Missus is still a bit undecided about the BT box but seems to have got her head around it. Wont be going back, Retention team keeps calling, on average 3 times a week so now blocked.
Only good thing about Sky tv is their planner and record system. IMO satellite TV is on the decline and Sky know it.

I have never had sky. I hate the idea of paying for any kind of TV subscription.

If you log in to your Sky account you can update your contact preferences. When we left - which would be a couple of years ago now - we were bombarded with phone calls and mailshots. Since amending the contact preferences, not a peep from them smile

Just something to note.

I was kindly given a friends and family discount by someone on this site.
Including Line rental and Fibremax I think we are paying around £70 for everything (Sky Q, Box sets, cinema, sports HD, etc).

I have a top cash back account as well, I saw Sky offers you cash back and was playing around on their site trying to work out the best deals.

Despite using the friends and family discount and getting the 50% off, it appears that my cashback with sky (??) is confirmed as well, so I should be getting around £170 back from that too. It's not pending, it's showing as confirmed.

That has to be a bit of a missed trick for some people as well.

I haven't worked it out exactly but over our 12month contract that must make the total price around £40 a month.
