We've just done a deal with sky, were with the for years, had a year with virgin but now back with sky after being offered a good "new" customer deal. Got the whole whack (minus movies), top fibre internet and multiroom for £50 odd a month. Virgin was £80 when we cancelled and they only thing they could offer was to remove benefits to save us some monthly costs, hardly a help..
Still think it's far too expensive for what it is though. All I ask is fast internet for my android kodi box!

Do Sky consider the address as the 'customer' or the individual. I've not had any contact from them since I quit. I was thinking of letting it expire and then signing up as a new customer using my wife's details.

No, we have done this previously, but isn't it appalling customer service that they think so little of long standing customers, while 'new' customers get the better deals.

We finally manged to cancel this week after a 64 minute phone call, we were cancelling both broadband and TV so had to go through the waiting process twice. Although it was nice to finally get talking to someone this time after being cut off a number of times previously.

Fibre now switched, TV ends in a few days time and freesat box ordered.

What's riled me is that they are still charging me for next month's broadband because 'I missed the billing cycle'. Asked whether I could cancel the direct debit and simply pay what I owe, response was 'we'll send debt collectors round'.

Sky can shove it now as far as I'm concerned

Well you can, yes, but it'll be a bit of a pain. They charge you in full the month prior and when it actually cancels, because delays are known to happen on occasion, or customer sometimes say 'actually I'd like to stay please!' it's far, far easier to bill you in full then credit once it actually cancels.

So we're now out of contract with Sky after 12 months on a £36 a month all in deal and the bill is back up to £75.

Tried alternatives prevoiusly and all have been a bit crap (BT TV) or limited (Sky Go) so looking into alternative ways to reduce the cost. I can probably save a considerable amount per month switching from BT infinity Fibre to SKY, but is it any good?

Are there any providers that offer only fibre - without line rental or any other addons? We're in contract for 12 months with sky now anyway but when that ends I'd love top internet, I'm well impressed with my £20 android box. Watch shows and box sets as and when, never have time to watch live anyway!

I'm holding out for the new customer Sky Q offer. If not I'll probably let it expire. The online chat seems to have disappeared and I've had to message them through the My Sky app. No reply yet though.

I've signed up with Vodafone, £25 for fibre all in inc. line rental, no sign up/install fees, a free sonos and topcashback.

Got onto SKY about cancelling via live chat, mentioned BT and managed to get them to offer the full TV package + SKY Go Extra + Sky Fibre Max for £70 a month all in. Website said £110..

Already cancelled BT Infinity and will be saving about £70 a month or so overall. Happy enough with that. smile

Three hours and still no reply. Not very efficient. The on line chat has completely disappeared off the site when viewing it on an Ipad

Fair enough. I used my laptop for LC and it took about 5 minutes for someone to become available. Refuse to cll them as give you all the sales BS and mess you about for an hour.

After 3 days I finally got an offer through the messenger service (the email and live chat option has completely disappeared from the Sky site on my IPad).

I was offered the the new customer Sky Q 2Tb deal, but claimed I would have to pay £50 for a minibox, even though the first box is clearly shown as included free with multi screen selection. I declined. It really gives you a feeling of being screwed over, after being with them years.
I'm not overly bothered, I'll just go down the Now TV route

Well, after many, many years of subscription have just phoned to cancel them (on box set package @ £38 a month). Explained that BT TV offered most of what we watch for £12.50 (summer deal). After some discussion, was offered 30% on 18 month contract - said no. Then the old 'I'll speak to my manager' used car salesman gambit and came back with 40% and 18 month - declined this too (and said at 50% I might consider). No further offer made.

Just checked online and have a 40% and 12 month offer (so already an improvement on phone deal)

So will see in coming weeks whether this gets improved?

Fully prepared to leave unless they can make a compelling case cost wise to stay....

Well, a week later and online offer is down to 30%!

Unless it improves (dramatically), will let it cancel.
There is no science to it at all! As i said above, I had no calls, no emails, no offers on My Sky and was starting to look at BT TV (which I wasn't really bothered about) and then I got a call yesterday.
Well, 10 days to go and still only 30% discount (from 40% originally offered). Looks like it's cheerio Sky!

Anyone use BT TV - I'd be interested in experiences of it and recommendations (or not)?

I went from Sky > BT > Sky.

BT TV was absolutely shocking, couldn't wait to get rid of it. You really appreciate Sky when you dont have it any more.

Not sure on BT TV but my Sky sub got switched off today, at which point I plugged in my new humax freesat box. So far so good, not missing Sky yet but time will tell!

Can you get HD on sky sports on now tv or any other streaming service.

I can't get Virgin and have Sky, don't want BT and only really want sports. Is streaming an option?
