I’ve just cancelled our subscription with sky.

We had all the channels, HD and the old sky + box and weighing out £80pm!!

The retention team did offer to leave it as it is at £46, or £30 without sports, but I knocked it back. I’d have stayed for £30 as it is.

The woman on the phone was lovely until I told her I won’t be swayed. Then she turned Cruella de Ville!

I’m hoping they call back with a final offer as the missus looked like she wanted to cry!

I got a letter a few weeks back saying that they were going to extend my previous retention offer (due to expire this month) for another year, without me contacting them.

Saves me from having to call up and play the 'I'm leaving' game. I've had 3 or 4 retention deals in a row now so maybe they realise it's cheaper to just extend folk like me?

Box set bundle with HD
unlimited internet
Phone line (don't use it)
£31

Her tone? Retentions at BT/TT normally have or had three options, if you go beyond the third then there is nothing they have to offer.

Full TV pack here + fibre + 1x multiroom + phone line rental. £131 p/m
With SKY 14 years in this house, 25 years at my parents.

Previously have always got half price TV for 6 months, plus discounted internet and phone for the balance of 12 months.
This time they came up with £12 off the £131 which I told them was insulting.
Turns out they can just switch to some new bundle and remove the Sports HD subscription to achieve that anyway so were not actuall y offering anything at all.
Currently in the 31 day cancellation period but hoping they call back with something better as I don't really want the hassle of moving.
Like DeanR32's situation, my wife will be pissed off if they don't !

Who else out there has one as good?
yes
Really miss the Sky interface, and the fact you can get all your content in the one place (rather than faffing between BBC iPlayer, Netflix, 4od, Now TV. etc etc

Thinking about going back to Sky..

Ditto. Freesat interface just isn’t up to scratch, it’s unintuitive how it shows which shows have been watched, sometimes groups programmes incorrectly, and I miss being able to download missed shows directly to the box.

Just not sure those niggles are worth paying a monthly subscription again.

Signed back up to Sky last month after around 18 months without it. Got the Sky Q package, with all the channels excluding movies. Multiroom aswell, Sky Go etc. Comes to £50 a month. It's essentially worth that just for all the football and sports I watch alone.

I've been Sky free now for over a year. NowTV variety pack + Movie pass for £99/yr pre-paid, plus the odd £6-10 come a grand prix weekend.

Maybe £300 for the entire year? No ads, no watching crap I don't want to, and no fitting in with a schedule. Love it.

I packed sky in too, just too expensive and for me i prefer both the content and price of netflix for a fraction of the cost. one thing i will say in skys favour. my phone connection outside that was for the broadband went tits up last week, a wire or something had snapped. called sky, got straight through to a nice helpful guy called shaun , told me could take 3 to 5 days for an engineer to come out but usually is faster. The engineer turned up 3 hours after the phone call and repaired it. that was the best service ive ever had from sky.

Order the standard £20 a month package (add multiroom if you want it) when the installer comes to fit it he will run through the package and check if this is right with you. If you say are there any offers on sports at the minute he should check and say there is an offer for sports and movies at £20 a month.

I binned Sky just before summer 2016, however at the start of December that year they were doing a deal to get previous customers back. I managed to get the full package with a 75% discount for a full year. Anyway anticipating this deal coming to an end I called them up last month, they confirmed I was no longer under contract but that the deal was continuing till December 2018. Result. £19.99 a month for HD movies sports and box sets

Its funny, but I cancelled Sky because our viewing habits changed and went to BT.
Wife hated the change to the BT programme guide but has got used to it.
The contract ran out and I noticed the price had crept from £53 to £71 over the 14 months.
So I looked on line at the Plusnet page - "No commitment " etc etc ( Yet they still called twice today chasing as to why I didnt sign up!)
Spoke to BT, said I wasnt happy and thinking about leaving. Was on the phone for a while but came away with everything I had before (+HD for 12 mths) AND my mobile contract (was £22 pcm )in there for £54..
Also while chatting I said about Plusnet, where he informed me are part of BT anyway and that the promise from the girl on the phone of 80gbps was wrong as my line can only handle up to 58 (He said this because Im already on the fastest available).

Been with O2 on a simplicity contract for over 12 years!

I was a previous customer as already stated, but I gave them a call and they said as it had been 18 months they'd treat me as a new customer (I don't know if that's just their hook line, it probably is). Was originally offered the deal for £58, told the bloke my limit was £50, he came back with £52 but with £20 knocked off first bill.

Give them a call, see what they can do, but don't be afraid to state them a price. It helps if you can get Virgin in your area, as they know they have competition. My mate got everything, including Sky Q multiroom, movies and sports, for £33 a month. He genuinely was a new customer, but he was also telling them Virgin were offering him some good deals. Goodluck.

Does anyone know of some deals for just Broadband? They're currently more expensive than even some specialist ISPs! But the service they provide and customer service really is something I want to stick with.

New customers can get line rental and DSL for £18pm so I'd be aiming for something close. Fibre can get 8.99 off at the moment too.

Cancelled my sky TV this month when discount finished and sky went back up to £38. Measly offer of 10% that rose to 20% when doing online chat with £10 fee for the pleasure. My sky account now showing 30% offer for 12 months not sure if that is on a 12 month contract or 18 month though. Had one call to try to keep me but could only offer 30% and didn't attempt to give me anymore so continued with cancellation. Switch off date early Feb, surprisingly wife said go ahead with cancellation. So will maybe see what they offer after the date. Ideally want the works for around £20 mark. Will let ppl know if anything decent offered.

ive been with sky broadband for years due to great customer service, my current monthley bill for the landline and internet is 19 quid. they contacted me towards the end of the last contract that was about 26 quid a month and said if i signed up for another 12 months i would get a discount. so i did.have to say where i live i get fast broadband speed and no issues at all. plus all calls free after 6pm and 2 nominated international free numbers too. her indoors likes to speak to her mum and brother in greece so was very happy with that.

I’ve cancelled and sent the Q box back, they never really tried to keep me. So far we have been a month without Sky and not missing it one bit.
