Discussion
In laws were paying silly amount to sky so just called last week to renogitate
Previously were paying
£72 pcm - SKY Family pack + sports
£ 20 Pcm Broadband ( 3-4 meg connection)
+ BT landline rental cand chrages
Now Paying:
Sky Q Multiroom 2 TB box + extra box -Full package + sports
35 meg Fibre Boradband
Sky Landline Rental
Unlimited mobile and landline calls
Free install
£77 PCM
Could still get the cheaper above on Virgin with better internet however the inlaws watch some channels not available on Virgin.
Now just need to get them a 65 inch 4k tv to take advanatage of the 4k.

Could you provide a bit more detail about your conversation with Sky that got you to this deal? i.e. Did you threaten to leave? Ask to be put through to customer retention? That is pretty much the deal I am after although not fussed about sports.Previously were paying

Called up asked for cancellations - they asked if they can put me through to retentions Once through I basically said we are paying too much for tv and broadband what’s the best they can do.. gave me a price which was slightly higher than what I finally agreed on ...at this point said it was not good enough and what else they can do..
We then discussed landline rental and call packages and they basically offered a deal better than what BT were offering ..
I enquired about Sky Q but didn’t take them up on the offer as he said if we take sky q now then we may lose some of the discount offered on the sky tv packages and broadband and that’s it’s best to renew this deal first and then upgrade to sky q...
I accepted and then without even asking he said he can do even better and discounted our sky tv/ fibre and broadband by a further £10 pcm.
The following day after having this accepted I called up sky saying I want sky q multi screen with the 2tb box and no installation charge - they said that’s fine and the total price including sky q came to £79.90 pcm ( not £77 as I said earlier ) - I also didn’t lose any of the discounts applied the previous days ..
All this is an 18 month contract which is fine as still a lot cheaper and more included than what was billed before..
I think a combination of luck and speaking to the right guy who was really helpful..

Sky just called me and offered:
Sky Q 2TB - Core TV Package, Box Sets, HD pack, Kids pack
Multiroom inc. an additional box
£34 1st 12 months, £52 for final 6 months (18 month contract)
Free install, free call outs and £0 hardware costs.
£50 credit on 1st bill.
Doing the calculations, basically saves £14.50/month off the list price.
Bit weird as Sky have changed their model so you have the base package, and then add different packages (rather than having tiered bundles). Seems like an ok deal but not one I'm biting their hand off just yet.

So far I've had a 'sorry your leaving, click here to see what your options are' text.
I went onto the page and started an online chat, I basically said I wasn't too bothered about our extra Sky box (£12 a month) nor Sky Movies. They got it down to £79 including Talk Anytime but that doesn't seem that much of a bargain to me as we're losing an extra Sky box and also Movies which would obviously save money anyway.
I enquired about Sky Q but got brushed off really and was just told I was better off getting a decent deal and then sorting out Sky Q.
So I've left it and have heard nothing since, my contract end date is March 1st.

Sky are going to be hurt by all the competitive streaming services. They are absolutely mental not dropping their prices and hooking people into Q now before we try elsewhere.
I dropped Sky in July after paying £100 a month. Was with them 16 years. They tried but just couldn't do me a deal that made sense.
Now use NOW and BT. BT just do BB and landline. NOW for tv. Works well and at least half the price.

I fully believe NOW TV is just the soft start of Sky's fully streaming future. They've started at just 720p streaming but are increasing some content to 1080p by the end of the year (bets on whether they'll charge for that...) and offer broadband and phone packages also.
I'd be very surprised if the rumoured 4K Q Mini box didn't also have plans for standalone functionality, with all content streamed from the internet rather than a main Q box.

NOW already does offer phone broadband and phone packages. As I looked at them but just a bit too expensive compaired to what I got else where for my FTTC and line rental. Yeah the wording is a bit rubbish but I actually have ordered BB from them, just waiting to move for it to be installed. Customer service so far has been identical to Sky's (UK/Ireland based), and it seems a lot can be done via web chat too.Think I got it down to £23 a month with entertainment, including all costs. Not horrendous as long as the service is the same as Sky's.

I'm not convinced Now TV will move to provide 1080p and UHD. It would be a mistake on their part to match their main Sky offering IMO.I'd be very surprised if the rumoured 4K Q Mini box didn't also have plans for standalone functionality, with all content streamed from the internet rather than a main Q box.

The news is accompanied by some other welcome updates for Now TV customers. Firstly, Sky will soon start supporting 1080p Full HD streaming for Now TV viewers, who currently have to make do with lowly 720p HD-ready streams.
They won't offer 4k before Sky Go, but I think it will inevitably come to both platforms. But then I can also see them merging back together again once Sky fully realises its streaming model.
Hi all,
I'm not sure what to do, and I'm probably just waffling here, but my situation is:
I have just realised I'm paying £38 per month for Sky+HD.
I only have the 'Entertainment' package. I don't have sports, movies, box sets, kids or anything else.
I think this is expensive, especially when I really only watch Discovery, Sky Atlantic, Sky One and News channels.
I also have Netflix and Prime, and I now find myself watching those far more than Sky or other live TV.
So I'm currently paying around £50 a month for all my TV viewing and I want to reduce this.
Not sure which way to go. I would like to cancel Sky, keep Netflix and Prime, and possibly add Now TV entertainment so I can keep Sky Atlantic and Disovery etc. I think that will reduce my bill to around £20 a month, but I will lose the ease of watching live TV.
Just not sure...
