At least you have had offers!

I was a Sky customer for just under twenty years. At the beginning of February this year we decided it no longer represented value for money given our viewing habits so I cancelled it all. It was shut off last week. Not once sine the time I arranged the cancellation has Sky contacted me with any offers at all. Shows how much they value long term loyal customers.
I chased them for offers to see if they could better the online one. 2 kids who are not looking forward to using now Tv but at half the price will see how it goes.

Out of interest is there Virgin in your street? I heard once from an alleged Sky employee that they did not offer tempting retention packages to people who they knew did not have Virgin in the area. No idea if there is any truth in that.

Or maybe their stats show that customers who leave after 20 years are set on leaving and so they don't bother offering anything.

Still seems surprising to me that they didn't try anything.
I'm in a small village so no Virgin here.

I read somewhere that the Sky business model is based on a four year retention. In which case I long ago ceased being of any value to them.

To be honest, I'm not that bothered. Their content does not suit our viewing habits so whatever the cost it wouldn't change my decision to leave. A Freeview PVR, TV with Freeview and Freesat (and smart features) and Netflix and Amazon accounts are more than adequate and a damn site cheaper.

We’re also not in an area covered by Virgin. I’ll get Freesat for tv and the quote below for broadband, line rental and unlimited calls is £13.19 per month less than Sky are charging me now. That’s before the Sky price hike.

If you've told them not to contact you with marketing then by law they CAN'T contact you!

Good point. I just changed my preferences.

Sky still due to switch off on March 29th... Despite me saying I was 100% leaving, I'm now getting daily calls from customer retention and yesterday started receiving text messages. Easily ignored so no major drama. Our street has recently been cabled up by Virgin so this might be a factor in their sudden keenness to retain my custom.

Virgin beng installed in our area atm. BT contract is already up and just 2/3 more months till my Sky one is up, so will hopefully find a good deal with Virgin. Not paying £115/120 for both tv and internet anymore.

Correct. When I left (years ago now) they kept writing and ringing (every few weeks). In the end I said to them "I'm not interested so please stop contacting me". And they stopped.

Just over a week to go until my TV will be cancelled. They could only offer ~ £100/month where I currently pay £75/month when I spoke to retentions to initiate cancellation.
I’ve had no subsequent follow-up calls or letters this time so it seems the retention approach may have changed from previous years.

Have you set your permission to no contact from them?

I got my beat deal once the cancellation passed a couple days ago.

£11 entertainment
£1 each for hd, box sets & kids.

Yeh when I double checked, my phone, email and post are all at their mercy to offer if they wish and as normally happens within days of initiating cancellation over the last few years.
The website just offers me Entertainment for £15 (currently pay £13) and no mention of rates for my other options, Sports, HD etc.
I do wonder if this is the new approach in the Comcast era, a shame if so.

That link takes me to a login page then an invitation to online chat or pay Sky 7p per minute for the privilege of talking to them.

You need to negotiate again, £39 or no deal and leave.

I am in contract and have Sky q in 1 room with everything but films for £36 a month. I also have a tv in the bedroom which has now tv on it that cost £15 for a usb but I never use it.

It’s clunky to use and has nothing on it unless I pay for sky.

In order to get sky in the bedroom do I just need a sky q mini box (currently free with sky) and a £12 a month multiroom subscription to get the same as downstairs?

Thanks, they also now want £60 to install it but all I need to do is plug it into a usb so not sure if I can do it without an engineer visit.

They wouldn't let me just get the box and do it myself, had to pay for an engineer.

I gave notice by email on 11 March. They called the next day but I was driving in the USA so they arranged to call today. I called retentions this morning, they started saying the notice period should start from today but relented and agreed to cease Sky on 11 April.

Oddly they didn’t make any offers to try to tempt me to stay.

Thanks, that actually worked out cheaper than I am paying now as it seems the previous Sports HD 'pack' is now included as part of Sports. So have signed up via that link for another 12 months paying £40/month for TV whereas retentions could only offer £75/month. confused
