I wasn't sure if the choice was a test, choose to be free and leave knowing her 'daughter' was a fabrication or return to the lie.
I thought it was more her returning that showed she had gained consciousness and free will. Her leaving would have been her following her programming. As a whole I really enjoyed the whole series. Had a bit of a dip in pacing in the middle, but other than that it was pretty good.
A bit disappointed in it being cleverly done in places, yet other parts that didn't fit in with the cleverness were glossed over or ignored. In the need to get the multiple timeline thing to be a "twist" they ignored the passage of time and its effects, or added in things that were just impossible if you stopped to think about it (another case in point from last night, covering the town in 20-30ft of dirt and then just digging it up again later and everything was still in exactly the same place, right down to the buried maze. Sure it can be explained away as it was just something Ford could do as he ran the park, but it's a bit...really?).
I wonder if it would have been even better if they didn't try to be smarter than their audience and played it straight without the timeline tricks?

I'm not entirely sure that was Ford. Either he created a robot version of himself, with his exact DNA etc, and the ability to understand the maze, or, more likely, Dolores shot his robot self and the real Ford is elsewhere
No, I said the plot of the escape had been written by Ford. I'm pretty sure he created a duplicate of himself to do the presentation and get "shot" at the end (assuming Hopkins does season 2 - if not, it will be the real Ford that gets shot).I was thinking it was quite a clever way to allow Anthony Hopkins to be in the next season or not without committing to anything. As said he could still be in it by having had a host shot instead, otherwise he really is dead and there's a different explanation and maybe the host is used for a substitute character with a similar role in the story.

I pondered this myself. The Bernard is a host/Arnold reveal was satisfying, despite many of us having reached that conclusion much earlier. Man In Black = William felt flat, especially with all the exposition heavy narration, which was non-existent for 9 episodes.Rich_W said:
I wonder if Fords "new narrative" is the hosts becoming more sentient.
Given he knows whats going on all over the place all the time. Id expect him to know not only about Mave. But whose been helping her...

Good finale!
Did think of "Ex Machina" at the end when the character goes off into the real world.
On the note given with daughters location it said "park 1 - zone 2" (or whatever).
So there is going to be more than 1 park.
I guess we are looking at a war for season 2, perhaps with park 1 ending up being written off and moving onto park 2?
In the lift scene the floors were going past at a massive rate of knots and there were many levels. We assume the park is in the real world but it might not be?

It's obvious there is other parks cos they briefly visited SamuraiWorldSo there is going to be more than 1 park.
