Looks like the new series is due to start soon and they are looking for tickets
But not such the grand tour this time as the tent seems to be having a home in the Cotswolds

Moving the tent around the world did seem to be just showing off how much money Amazon had over the BBC though I reckon. But not such the grand tour this time as the tent seems to be having a home in the Cotswolds

So is it that the real viewing figures for actual paying customers didn't justify the budget for the old set up, or the stars just can't be arsed any more?
The whole moving about thing was always a nonsense but the change still feels a bit abrupt?
The biggest change they need though is to sack the script editor.

I think it was more ensuring the difference between TGT and TG so they didnt end up in every court possible! lol
I suspect there was a bit of this in it as well. But anyway, I think it's more sensible keeping it in one place.
I thought the last series was mostly good, I'll happily admit a couple of episodes were terrible, and there was certainly a number of things they can improve generally, but I'm looking forward to watching the next series.
In some ways I'm grateful to TGT for making me buy Amazon Prime. I have very much enjoyed a lot of on-demand series and films from there, and I have since acquired the Netflix app on Amazon and now watch a lot of things via that.
With an Amazon stick on both my TV's, Sky rarely gets a look in these days, and I watch very little live TV.
I suppose that was the plan all along. Get people to sign up to to Amazon, Netflix etc because they want to watch TGT, and then you've got them as customers for the foreseeable future.
The system works.

Prime day was an excuse to get a Fire Stick and watch TGT on the big screen, rather than on a tablet screen. I watched the first two "live" but have finally started catching up with the rest of them.
It's probably been covered long ago, but i felt the Nambia desert beach buggy thing was a bit too far fetched - I know it is entertainemnet etc, rather than a documentary, but it just felt a bit strained and cliched.
The celebrity death thing was funny the first 2 or 3 times time, but enough already.
I like that they can be a bit more natural and "sweary" in their dialogue. Yes, it's still very scripted, but I think everyone knows what the three of them are like off screen, and it does feel a bit more relaxed and realistic without the constraints of the BBC hand-wringers.
As for the rest of the FireStick content - I like the voice control, but I have no idea how to browse through like I do on a normal programme guide.

I may have missed the point, but why did they travel around the world in the last series? I expected it to be car-related stuff about the country/continent/area they were in each week but it seemed totally random – "here we are in the Mojave desert in the USA so here's a film about taking a Ferrari around Lake Como" or whatever.

Totally agree. I think they missed a massive opportunity with the last series by not travelling round and talking about the cars, history, scene etc of the country they were in - a sort of petrolhead travel log in their jokey, jovial way.warp9 said:

The vast majority want pianos on Marinas, swearing in abundance, horse sodomy, outrageous stunts, and POOOOOWWEEERRR.

does anyone know if the 'limitations' imposed by the BBC before the GT started are ongoing or were just for one series?
half of the first series just seemed to be sticking their finger up at the BBC, with the 'guest' . conversation corner (or whatever it was called), the American - they were all crap
as was the scripted studio stuff - they need to do what the do best - cocking about with cars (or bikes or lorries...)

and closer to Clarkson's house....
They tried to get planning permission for the TG track to be close to his house once I believe at an airfield, to make life easier for filming
Was meant to be at Enstone Airfield. But the council said no as would bring to much noise and traffic to the area...They tried to get planning permission for the TG track to be close to his house once I believe at an airfield, to make life easier for filming
Will be interesting to see where in the Cotswolds it is.

. The one thing TGT missed was consistent car reviews. FFS get rid of the "comedy".
